On April 28th I shot the subject target and decided to reprocess it...

P.S.: At some point in the distant future our Sun will form a planetary nebula similar to this... Out in a burst of glory!!
.

Another great shot Brian. I love the ring Nebula, did you use the Horizon camera?

The snow has finally melted enough to get into my observatory so I loaded the Sky-Watcher 190 Mak-Newt on the Celestron CGEM DX, dropped in the ATIK Color Horizon with the STC Duo-Spectra filter and balanced the setup. I still have to do my spring polar alignment and calibrate the StarSense unit with the scope but things were well enough aligned to shoot some subs of the Moon.

I used the STC Duo-Spectra filter simply to reduce the brightness of the Moon enough to be able to image it with the Horizon camera and even then I was shooting 0.005 sec. exposures!

The Download is the full size image off the above configuration.

Enjoy!

Great job Brian with a very sensitive DS camera.

While out shooting the Moon and Jupiter, I collected some photons on other Moonlit targets.

Thanks guys...I was playing around with PI's Deconvolution, and although I shouldnt have done it at the end/finished image, I wanted to see what it would do. This was thr above image run thru Decon only.

I bought a CANON PIXMA PRO-10 sometime ago so will be using that. Eventually will need to find a source for ink.

Yeah Tony, I have the Pro 100. I have seen a source for the ink on eBay for $25 for the set of 8 cartridges.

Mono or color?

I'm seriously thinking about selling my mono ATIK 428Ex and mono Infinity and buying a mono Horizon. My dealer indicated they'd be interesting in doing a trade-in.

At present I'm working on getting a good white balance with the color Horizon. The images are too green but I guess that is to be expected with a RGGB Bayer filter.

bwa

Yeah I was thinking that the filter you use was causing the blue/green effect. But the imaging is really nice.

I have an Epson SureColor P600 and love it! It will handle flat or roll paper, and do 13"x19" borderless prints (and panoramas over 10' long).

The secret is to not skimp on paper; buy the highest quality paper available. One 'paper' (probably closer to plastic) that I really like is Inkpress' Luster 10.4 mil. It is a thick, stiff paper that doesn't sag and takes and holds ink amazingly well.

I also use refillable ink cartridges and ink from www.inkowl.com. I've had excellent success with their cartridges and ink, and their kits don't drive me into the poor house like Epson disposable cartridges would have!

Good luck in your quest for the perfect print!

Next step in the journey is to learn how to make quality prints.

I find the 8 ink printers work best.
