I like Comic Sans!
There are so many additional typefaces available. You’re right, Jerry, it becomes annoying to try to use one that isn’t supported on the system you want to use it on. I have downloaded some for personal use though, especially calligraphy-type, and they are useful for personal use.

Most people erroneously call them fonts, but they are actually typefaces. A font includes the typeface, its size, and any other attributes. According to a famous designer, there are only six essential typefaces.

Garamond - looks smart
Bodoni - looks elegant
Century Expanded - very readable, required, used by the Supreme Court
Futura (1930s) - versatile
Times New Roman - developed for the NY Times magazine
Helvetica - the most popular typeface. There is a documentary about it.

Port Jefferson has a Dickens festival every year just before Santa comes to town. Many people dress in the clothes of the time. This was last Sunday indoors in the town center because of the heavy rain. The Santa parade, in the rain, followed, pictures of the parade members tomorrow.

TV often shows big family dinners with the kids sitting at a separate table in another room. Did any of you have to do that? Thinking back, I was never at a kids' table. As a matter of fact, I was never even at a big family gathering. My parents made me stay home so the dog "wouldn't be lonely." There was usually some food in the fridge, so I could eat whatever I wanted. Ah, childhood memories! (I'm kidding, of course, but I never did sit at a kids' table).

Well, I sat at the kids table (in the '50s). Actually, if I sat at the 'adults table', it probably wouldn't have been so interesting.
