You DO need something other than the adaptor. The ipad WON'T accept CF cards! It DOES take SD cards. And therin lies the difference.

Yes. It has been stated in this thread several times you need a card reader for the cf card that plugs into the iPad to USB adaptor. Quite simple really.

Deleting files uploaded from your Canon to your iPad is not a problem. When uploaded via Canon to iPad, you can delete any ones you want to from your iPad. KEEP files on your Canon flashcard. Then upload to you pc later. If you upload (sync) them from your pc to your iPod they are not able to be deleted directly on your iPad. However, you can correct the list of images/directories on your pc, and resync the files to your iPad. The corrected sync adjusts to the exact list on your iPad to = pc.

You asked why not load the pix directly from my 7D to the New Ipad, I have done that but I read somewhere that it was not advisable to use the camera for dowloading pics. Therefore, I've be looking for a way to use a card reader.
Don't ask me where on the internet that I read this, I just know why I'm looking for another method to dowload a CF card. Maybe I'll have to trust the guy that has been doing it for 2 years.

For those of you that have been saying to get a usb and plug the card reader into it and it will read the card. I'm wondering if you are doing it succesfully for the larger CF card. I've use 3 different card readers with the sane results, "not enough pewer". If anyone has had success for the new I

If anyone has had success for the NEW IPAD I'd like to know what card reader you are using. I have the Apple USb adapter, but maybr not the right card reader. Thanks for bearing with us that keep getting "not enough power" for the CF card

Deleting files uploaded from your Canon to your iP... (show quote)

So the best procedure would be to put them into a folder on my computer and then sync them to my iPad using iTunes. To remove photos from the iPad, I would delete them from my computer's iPad folder and then sync again. Correct?

I know this would take a while but you could set up your email account on your iPad and then download your pics on your p.c and then send yourself an email.. But if you have many pics this method would be overwhelming.
Good luck in resolving your problem.

Compatibility in technology keeps us all spending more then we want to spend but it does keep people employed! Ugh!

Amen! I have an iPad and do not use it for pictures. I shoot raw so nothing is ready to load right off. I tried to load the sd card I used for my digi frame at work only 1 or 2 pictures would load on the iPad yet they all loaded to my 40 dollar picture frame! I love my iPad but not for pictures.

My hope, like others, was to travel taking pics. and view them on the New Ipad, while leaving them on the CF card. I'd download them to my computer for touch-up when I got home, It was my hope to be able to use the Ipad rather than carry a computer. Still looking for tips. I know I could download from my 7D, but would rather use a card reader.

You can only download the files in a SD Card to your iPad via Apple's Card connector. Then you can take the cable provided with your iPad when your purchased it and connect to your computer and transfer the files from your iPad to your computer via iPhoto or I use Lightroom 4.1. I do not know of any way to move the files to an external drive. Hyperdrive might make something that can move the files from your iPad to the Hyperdrive part.

peggyjom, I like your idea of using a digital photo frame instead of the Ipad. Would you be so kind to share with me what you selected for your frame, and could I just put my CF card in it for review, and last could it be used in the field with a battery or does it require electric. Thanks, you do have a good idea.

I did a lot of research and went with the Sony it has a terrific picture! It is only 7" but they make ones that go all the way up to 10 or 12. All frames are not created equal watch the pixel count some just are not worthy of putting your pictures on. The Sony will also show a calendar and clock of the time and day in which you took the picture. I keep mine at the office and often use a little lul time to critique my shots

Do you have an iPad 2? That's what I have and I use the iPad/USB adaptor and plug a cf card reader into and it just takes off and dumps everything into the camera roll folder and creates an import folder as well. I have used at least 3 different brands of cf card readers and never had any problems.

I have only used a 16 gb cf card.

That is what I have and like you say it is very easy to download my pics off the card I use with my Nikon d90. I can then edit them , crop, fix red eye ..I can. Do many things with different apps I purchase or get free. My only problem is I can't send them to this web site from my iPad..ugh!..

As for a digital fram. I like this one because you can send pics in an email... right to the frame.Kodak PULSE Digital Frame - Digital photo frame - flash 512 MB - 7" - 800 x 600

So effortless, yet so rewarding
Hassle-free pictures - there's no software to install, making setup easier than ever. The PULSE automatically alerts you as soon as you get pictures from friends and family. You can also insert a memory card or USB drive to start viewing your pictures right away.
Displays pictures beautifully
Pictures look amazing on the 7-inch high-quality digital photo display featuring Kodak Color Science and LED backlighting.
Simple-to-use touch controls
The full touch screen makes your entire photo-viewing experience fun and easy. Scroll through photos and view slideshows - all at the touch of your fingertips.
Keep those memories coming
You'll enjoy every moment with the ability to store up to 4,000 images with internal memory. Pictures are automatically resized to fit more on the frame and still look beautiful.
