As I just mentioned in my last reply, I agree with that on the composition. It was one of many I decided to color edit heavier than normal, after seeing other photographers work where I realized the original could not have looked as it was presented. I have always tried to bring out what the eye saw, kind of thing.

With that said, here is a crop of that photo, taking out more of the sky. However, it loses some of that blue in the sky, which I believe added to the photo. If I remove more from the bottom, then good elements are lost there. I think this is one of those shots that cannot be brought to the idea., from the elements given and the limitations of choices I made prior to hitting the shutter button.
As I just mentioned in my last reply, I agree with... (show quote)
Su, Try cooking the clouds that are left. That should give you the impact you are looking for.

I had cooked them some already but will experiment a bit more. Thanks Stan.

After your crop...try the dehaze filter in lightroom, using a softened brush, your sky would improve and you can be very selective! That said, it looks just fine to me. I went through that HDR phase, and since have been backing off more and more...life in the slow lane, I guess!

Great processing. My only question is my eye is drawn to the right side of the lighthouse. Seems real white to me-not sure if its natural light or reflection or ?. What part of Michigan was it taken? Great picture in its entirely.

When I worked the lighthouse portion, I noticed it too. I thought I had done some bad masking. It was natural, although I could bring it down a notch, of course. I will likely play with it a little and see . Thank you.
