This Topic is great thank you. "Colorful or Overcooked" is so much better than my topic. No the photo is not. It is very good.
What I was saying poorly is what this does. How far is most photos being taken so they seem so far out of reality. Of course art
treatments with post processing can be very creative.Thanks.

Tom, You lost me just a bit in your response, but I think I got the general message you intended. Of course, we know it is up to each artist what they want to create, so what is heavy handed,/over cooked to some, is beautiful art to another. Someone recently pointed out to me the "instagram" look, which I do not care for at all. Instagram (which I don't use anyway)... can keep its look.
I am very pleased and appreciative of the many who took the time to download and view this photo and give me their thoughts. I was a bit on the fence about it, and now I don't feel that way. The thoughts and perspectives shared this far have been valuable to me. I am glad it seems to have helped you as well.

It does not look overcooked to me although if you want my opinion the visual design needs improvement. The horizon line practically divides the image in the middle.
It is a beautiful shot.
I was going to jump in with this same comment. If you already cropped it, you may want to go back to original and review to try a re-crop to get the horizon off of center. Agree that it does not look overcooked. I tend to be the one that does that.

I did post it with a crop to get that horizon line off of center twice in this thread. If you care to see, look on a previous page (p4, perhaps). Thank you for looking it over and giving your thoughts, it is appreciated.

You are correct, I did not get that far before replying to that particular previous comment. Much better with adjusted crop

Thank you....appreciate your time and thoughts.
Work you did looks great. A rule of thumb is not to have the horizon dead center. Not a big deal with this picture but you might keep it in mind in the future. Rules are made to be broken so don't over think it. It's what you like that matters.

I usually do keep the rules in mind....and have recropped it since to get a better proportion....thank you for looking and responding.
long crop would work here

That is worth considering. Thanks!
It is what you are used to seeing that determines what might be "overcooked". Those who have actually seen the south west's colors have no difficulty with some of the shots that others call "overcooked".
I like the treatment Sue. Not over cooked IMHO.

Quite right... Those who have been here and know the more common looks of this bay...may have other thoughts.
