Not quite in a league with a split-window Stingray but still very nice. The problem with all those horses today is that a 4-door Tesla sedan in ludicrous mode is probably faster but a lot less fun to drive.

The electric car is pure homogenized milk compared to the good shot of whiskey taste of the Vette. Having said this, the Tesla is .2 of a second faster to 60 MPH than the Chevy, and the Chevy is far faster at 214.8 MPH vs the Tesla's stogy 155 MPH. Which, is likely a good thing because it is the Vette that feels good at speed and the Tesla, not so much. Now, how could I talk my wife into approving both??? Cheers!

SWEET. I have a 2005 that I bought when I retired 5 years ago. I have wanted one since 1957 when a guy who worked for my dad showed up one beautiful Saturday morning with his brand new Corvette. He took all of us, my 2 older brothers and sister, father, for fides. I could not understand why my father wouldn't buy one. No room for the family, I didn't care. Mine is only 400 hp but that is plenty for me. Yes xt2, it is a struggle to get in and out, but once you are in it, not much else matters. Enjoy the drive.

Split rear window 1963 Stingray most sought after as it was only produced one year. Cut my teeth as an apprentice mechanic on one in the 70's doing a complete restoration. Loved that car.

Several years ago Jeremy Clarkson did a segment on the then-hottest Corvette on his Top Gear TV show. It was remarkably fast around the track, and placed well up on the board of supercar times that they maintained. But he drove it home one day. In the wrapup of the segment he said it was absolutely miserable to drive on real roads - harsh over bumps, constantly loud, and utterly useless power - so if you wanted a Corvette to actually use, you'd be much better off with a "normal" one. I suspect this newest model is similar.

That a-hole has never liked any car produced in the USA!!!!

They are barely a Chevrolet. They have their own designers, engineers, assembly line, etc. All GM does is supply them with a place to sell them.

And, that is the whole point. Runs with or circles around other “exotics”, is “affordable” at 1/3 the price & thus attainable for the masses so to speak. The Chevy is about to have the long awaited mid-engine in 2019-2020. This will place it squarely in the upper echelon of exotic vehicles. The only difference is the Chevy will never have the snob “appeal” or pimp appeal that the Ferrari and Lamborghini seems to attract. Hats off to GM & Chevrolet!

Maybe it's because the 'Vettes are the wrong colors. Wonder if orange or yellow would help. Blue is a sissy color, no?

How about light blue with orange stripes.

I've driven/owned Corvettes, Corvairs, Mercedes Gull Wings, Triumphs, MG's etc. and found that the Corvair had all and more than needed for freeway's, highway's and street driving. Also easier to get in/out and more comfortable to drive.

I just hope the mid engine Corvette is priced the same as the current models. They have done so well over the years with their current setup, why would they change it. BTW, blue is nit a sissy color. White is a sissy color.
