A friend took delivery of his 2019 corvette ZR-1. He gave me a ride it's like nothing I have experienced. The acceleration is scary awesome. 755hp.

When I saw this I had to check to see where you are located, a student at a nearby small University drives one just like it....This one is a 2017 I believe ..

Beautiful car but why? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to own another corvette, haven't had one for a long time but, unless your friend has a place to use all those 755 horses, and knows how to use them, it may be about 500 hp too much. But then, it is a beautiful car, and I'm amazed how much it looks like my old 95 RX7 (it had custom work done to it).

I am now in a position in life that I could probably afford a car like that..... but I am old enough that I have to think that getting in and out of a car that low to the ground would not be a graceful thing to see.....

Not quite in a league with a split-window Stingray but still very nice. The problem with all those horses today is that a 4-door Tesla sedan in ludicrous mode is probably faster but a lot less fun to drive.

Congratulations to your friend. Owned multiple Corvettes over the years. A friend of mine was at a July 4 car show, there was a red
one there which he photographed. I love Corvettes but......that rear 'spoiler' (wing) is just that....a spoiler! I understand why but
it looks like a late arrival to the finished product. Good luck to your friend.

True, but with top speed of 212mph it is very functional.

The Tesla is quicker from 0 to 60 by maybe 2 tenths of a second, but definitely not faster.

Several years ago Jeremy Clarkson did a segment on the then-hottest Corvette on his Top Gear TV show. It was remarkably fast around the track, and placed well up on the board of supercar times that they maintained. But he drove it home one day. In the wrapup of the segment he said it was absolutely miserable to drive on real roads - harsh over bumps, constantly loud, and utterly useless power - so if you wanted a Corvette to actually use, you'd be much better off with a "normal" one. I suspect this newest model is similar.

I saw one at a local Chevy car dealer (during our SUV search). Beautiful car, but I agree that getting out of this car is quite the challenge. Even though it is over $100.000, I was surprised that the black interior had a $250 up-charge for RED thread used for the stitching. Really? Red thread vs Black thread. Silly. Of course, I would go for the red thread. At that price, what the heck.

You are quite right! However, it is a "struggle" I look forward to every time I take mine out...
