...or so it seems. After upgrading to CC it seems I can't work off my old libraries that reside on an external hard drive. You have to use Adobe cloud to work your photo's. I tried everything I could think of to pull my my libraries without using cloud storage but couldn't make it happen so I canceled the very next day. Basic plan only gives you 20GB storage and that's laughable. I couldn't get even a fraction of my images on this thing. Heck - I can't even fit in one small portrait job on that much space. The next plan up is 1/3 of what I'd payed for the stand alone versions so after 3 years I'm spending far more than than I payed for the software with less functionality than the original. Does anyone have my same issues with this subscription based plan because after 8 years of using Adobe products I'm getting ready to dump them.
Did you try File - Open?
But seriously, it sounds like you installed Lightroom CC and not Lightroom Classic CC.

Exactly. I started down this road and quickly discovered that this wasn't what I wanted. Easy to fix.

There is life after Adobe......a lot of us have found that out!
Lightroom CC is for mobile devices, Classic is for PCs pretty much....

I use Classic on my laptop; it's now my primary PP program.
But if you sign up for mobile, you (or in this case, my wife) can download, update, and even edit on a mobile device or tablet while far from a laptop or desktop. I haven't played with this yet, but would like to implement it for when she's traveling without me. I think she could download from her camera to her tablet, then upload to the cloud, leaving photos for me to edit and PP.....
At least I think that's the way it's supposed to work, no?

(Haha. For me there is life before Adobe.)
Is that the difference? Classic let’s you work and create your own local libraries without using their cloud services?

So for now I’ve been able to move my LR6 & PS5 over to my new system without to many glitches and that’s okay by me for the time being. Has anyone tried the Affinity software- that looks pretty good to me.

There are two flavors of Lightroom and one of them is well...light. You want Lightroom CC Classic which works just like Lightroom 6 did. The other is intended for cloud access with limited adjustment functionality and is aimed more for use on mobile devices. You have access to both with your subscription.

Lightroom CC is still basically a beta app, and for the life of me, I cannot understand why anybody wastes time with it.. Lightroom Classic CC is the real applications.

I believe Lightroom CC is intended for light editing on mobile devices.
I hate the filing system on lightroom. Maybe I don't fully understand it, but I don't really want to bother figuring it out. I go to photoshop CC, open my external drive, open Bridge and Photoshop, all my pictures are where I expect them to be, and move them around from drive to drive, folder to folder, and open them with ease from Bridge.

I have but have not used photoshop ( only LR6 ) to compare to. When I watch you tube vids it shows Affinity is not as good yet. But I got it on sale for $40.00 around the holidays. I mostly use it to remove unwanted objects & it does a good job with that. Done a little other PP with it & is ok for the money. Eventually I'll move to the Adobe subscription.
