That's what I thought when it was first offered by Adobe. If one has the subscription, it includes options for both Adobe CC and the Cloud.

There are two flavors of Lightroom and one of them is well...light. You want Lightroom CC Classic which works just like Lightroom 6 did. The other is intended for cloud access with limited adjustment functionality and is aimed more for use on mobile devices. You have access to both with your subscription.

Basic plan only gives you 20GB storage and that's laughable. I couldn't get even a fraction of my images on this thing. Heck - I can't even fit in one small portrait job on that much space. The next plan up is 1/3 of what I'd payed for the stand alone versions so after 3 years I'm spending far more than than I payed for the software with less functionality than the original. Does anyone have my same issues with this subscription based plan because after 8 years of using Adobe products I'm getting ready to dump them.

Gaaaaa! Another victim of the Software Name Charade! You did EXACTLY what Adobe wanted. You loaded Lightroom CC 2018 instead of Lightroom CLASSIC CC 2018!

See, Adobe wants you to use their Cloud servers. They charge dearly for that. So, they changed the name of the former Lightroom Mobile to Lightroom CC 2018, wrote versions for computers, and re-named the Lightroom CC 2015 to Lightroom CLASSIC CC 2018.

Now, if you use a desktop, and a laptop, and a smartphone with camera, and a tablet, OR if you’re a Millennial, that might make sense. But if you’re a pro or advanced enthusiast who just wants the next version of what you had, as LR6 or LrCC, then you need CLASSIC.

You need to understand the differences (both advantages and disadvantages) between Lightroom CC and Lightroom CC Classic. A subscription to Adobe Photography entitles you to use either or both versions as well as Photoshop CC.

You should do some research. There are a lot of YouTube videos and text reviews that explain the differences.

Can you call up Adobe Bridge? If so, then this program will identify all your digitized images for moving and copying.

If you have subscribed to Adobe Creative Cloud, then you have access to Adobe Bridge, too. With this program, you can organize all your image files.

Since my LR now closes indiscriminately by itself, I’m ready to chuck the thing and move to ON1 18, which I also have and am currently using as a plug-in to LR. Also, ON1’s cataloging system makes more sense to me.

You subscribed to the wrong version of LR. You want to get the photographers version of Photoshop CC that includes Photoshop CC, Lightroom Classic CC and a few others. You don't want to use what is known as Lightroom CC. It is a cloud based program that puts ALL your images in the cloud. It's for those that want access to ALL their images from ALL of their devices All the time. Lightroom Classic CC is what you want and works from your PC only and catalogs images on any drive.

So in other words, there are two subscriptions for $9.99/month. The one I talked about and the one you got.

But seriously, it sounds like you installed Lightroom CC and not Lightroom Classic CC.

Your Adobe subscription includes BOTH LRCC and LR Classic CC. If you don't like LRCC, just load Classic and you will have everything available to you without the cloud. I use LR Classic CC and PS in combination with each other, but occasionally I do use CC for special things, but I save the output to my hard drives.

YOUR POST IS NOT INCORRECT!!!!!

The $9.99/month subscription includes BOTH Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC along with Photoshop CC and Bridge CC. If you do not have Classic on your computer, all you have to do is download it. It doesn't cost you any more.

I'm "wasting" some time with it...finally got it running. Not a primary, for sure, but I use my phone camera quite a bit so it's handy. Most of my phone pix are not of the variety I want to make art from, so having the capability to clean 'em up for, like, Instagram (which my artsy community uses extensively) is really pretty stellar. YMMV.

And everyone told me how great the cloud is and will be. I just do not want any of my files that open to the public in general. I do not use it on my phone. Only time is when Adobe sends an up date and then you are forced into using it by microsoft and adobe for all programs. Programs a re now called apps and they are usually a part of the program and the app opens up the cloud to run as far as I know. I TOO WANT REAL PROGRAMS AGAIN. sorry but I had to yell that one. The cloud is here and will stay as long as microsoft and all others makes money from it. just wait until the cloud has a major virus and all computers crash around the world. just wishing ya know.

I have CC and I can use my old libraries like always, there is no change! It may be an issue with your computer and I bet it has nothing to do with Adobe hamstringing anybody!
