HI there Happy New Year everyone.
I am experiencing a problem. My Nikon D5100 is no longer taking clear shots. The quality has gone way down, I have been reusing the memory card for about three years now. Could that be the problem? The photos are now looking like there is a haze over them. I never had this problem before. I have not changed a thing in the way I take the shots. I took it to a local camera store and the guy cleaned the camera but it doesn't help.
Igot the camera from Andorama a few years ago.
I am really very distressed about this. I cannot afford a new camera at this time. Can anyone help me on this?
Thank you.

Unless we can see what you are seeing it is impossible to guess what is happening. Post a photo!

I see a haze over the people's faces... am I crazy or what?
Have you had your eyes checked recently? You may be developing cataracts which will make things look hazy. Have you shown the photos to anyone else? Did anyone mention that they look hazy? I just had one eye operated on for cataracts, so one eye is still hazy but with my good eye, I don't see any haze. They look nice and sharp to me.

What haze? Seriously, this may be a vision problem, not to be at all critical of you.

I think you want more contrast and brightness. I notice the black sweater is not really black. Does this look better to you? I just bumped up the brightness and contrast a little.

If you like my version better, you just need to raise the contrast and brightness - probably in a menu somewhere, Or if you are shooting RAW it is a simple fix.

Memory cards have absolutely nothing to do with the clarity of your photos. Digital images are just billions of on-off switches flipped in patterns. Memory either works, or does not work at all!
It would be a good idea to check all the settings. HOWEVER, before you do that, please Read The *Fine* Manual... There are many settings that, if set incorrectly, could cause what you describe.
It would be somewhat helpful if you posted a few sample images here, so we can see what you're describing.

Not a lot but not as clear as I would want them as I have gotten them before

If these are JPEG files straight from the camera, then your camera's menu settings are controlling the processing. Check:
Sharpness
Exposure Compensation
Contrast
...and all the other menu settings. Zero out all settings and test...
after looking at your pictures, they are good - no problems. Have your eyes checked. Possible cataracts.

It is NOT the eyes! The photos simply lack contrast and are slightly underexposed. The blacks are not black and the whites are not white, so the whole photo looks hazy and flat. When I bumped up the brightness and contrast the photos are clear and crisp and lively.

No, but your camera settings are strange. The picture of the guy is shot at ISO 800 - Why so high ISO? And shutter speed is 1/30 and aperture f/4 and camera using flash if the info in the file is correct. Try again with flash and ISO 100. No exposure compensation.
Check your camera settings.

I've been using my memory cards for 10 years and there is no difference in how they show images, so I think, no -that is not your problem! Does this occur with all your lenses?
