If you add up all your subscriptions, and your subscriptions five years from now, I bet it will be a big deal, and all you're getting is updates. Subscriptions remove choice from your life. You pay whether you want the updates or not. Before I buy a new version of a program, I look at the so-called improvements and decide if they're worth it. I'm using Quicken from 2014, and there's nothing in the 2018 subscription version that I want.
