Ive bought from KEH. Fair and honest. No nonsense from them. Will look there first before elsewhere.

I have found them a great place to buy, but a poor place to sell to. If they don't pay high prices they can afford to sell at a better price.

KEH EX+ rating, yea or nay? Looking at a Canon 70-200L, it seems awful inexpensive to me. How do y'all feel about KEH and their rating system?

THANKS!!!

I have purchased a Nikon 80-400mm lens (the older version for about $600. It was in excellent condition, no blemishes, scratches and had lens caps and a Kirt Tripod mound in addition to the original lens case. I also bought a Nikon D7000 for the wife and when I check the shutter count it was about 30,000. I paid $300 for it. Both are excellent.

Both lenses I bought from them were better than their ratings described them. They looked brand new.

I’m a fan!

First, I'm returning to 'serious' photography after 29 years... making me an 'Amateur Re-tread'(my term) - overwhelmed but enthusiastic at the technology and the pictures to come!
After joining this forum and posting my 'decision conundrum' questions, I've received detailed assistance and support from several members here, keeping me focused..... YOU ALL ROCK - thanks!

I just purchased a Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 G ED IF AF-S lens with E+ rating from KEH. Lens, hood & pouch are cosmetically 'E+' - they appear to be brand new!
As others have commented on their purchases, KEH rating system is conservative. In keeping with their advertised pricing policy, my cost is close to, but less than 40% off retail - I'd say this is a win-win! KEH gives you 14 days for full refund, beyond that, a store credit.

Here's what I don't know:
1) Since the lens arrived before my new D500 (ordered/purchased locally in NC) I can not comment on the quality of the lens glass and full functionality. Once the camera arrives, camera store owner/professional photographer has offered to run it through the paces. It so happens this store owner recommended KEH as well - although he has a case full of used and new lenses - that says a lot!

2) CUSTOMER SERVICE: Jury is still out... partly my fault - as follows:
ME: Like most of us, my email in-boxes are inundated with, well you know. Add travel to the mix = many missed messages, etc. One message, a "Welcome to KEH" with a 7 day, percentage discount for first order .... totally missed until AFTER this purchase, a $75+ loss ..... GRRRRRRR!
KEH: Since order had been processed, sales rep could not apply discount. After some discussion he passed my issue and dismay to CS Manager.... who passed it "upstairs"..... that took place this past Wednesday.

I totally understand this is on me, however, as a brand new customer .... with many purchases ahead, I asked for 'good faith' store credit only - equal to discount I would have received.
To date, no email or phone call. As this is the most busiest time of the year, I'll give KEH the benefit of the doubt and hope to hear from them this coming week - hopefully Santa will be generous!

my 2 cents, good luck to you!

Aren't they located in Smyrna, Alabama or Georgia? I remember finding lenses there at KEH while other places didn't have them. I will look them up. I have had a good experience with this company.

Are their products grey market? That may be how they have such low prices. Grey market gear is sometimes not coveref under a manufacturers warranty.

They sell both, so you know what you are buying. They don't attempt to hide the fact that some items are gray market. You can usually tell by he addition of "USA" to the product description or title for "non-gray market" items.

Adorama, B&H, and Cameta are the "ABC" of photo dealers. They're less expensive because they sell so much, and have lower mark-ups than "mom and pop" do. They set the pace for pricing, and local dealers have resorted to meeting those three to keep their customers.

I've been dealing with B&H since they started their business, and I've never had the first problem with them. They've stood behind their sales every time.

They're also the reason why I could make money in my portrait business at first. Less cost for me made me competitive.

I have dealt with KEH on and off for at least the last 10 years. I have found their equipment to be at least as good as rated, if not better. I have sometimes bought EX + rated equipment from them that looked more like Mint minus. I have somewhat lesser experience with Adorama and B and H for used equipment but have found their ratings to be accurate as well.

I've bought a number of items - bodies, lenses, etc from KEH. All have been better than rated but I look mostly for excellent and avoid bargain. But I also compare with refurbs from ABC since they carry a manufacturer warranty.
I do not, however, buy without calling first and speaking with someone who knows cameras. That's why I like Cameta since they have a staff who are not just answering calls but also handling the equipment in the store. Obviously they don't know every item in the warehouse, but they can and will give you a fair view of what they've heard from customers as well as their own experience and can help build a package that can best meet your needs and budget.

I have dealt with KEH several times, and have nothing but praise for my dealings with Ken. Honest, straightforward, and his equipment is top-notched! I would, and will, deal with him again and again!

Recently purchased a Fujifilm X-T10 and 16-50mm lens. Both items arrived in advertised condition and performed as expected. After 7 days, I decided I would prefer the X-T1 and a different lens. I contacted KEH and requested to return items. I shipped back to them, had email contact with customer service and received a full refund shortly thereafter. I will definitely do business there again when in the market for another lens for the X-T1.

KEH looks to be a very good resource. But prices seem high to me.
They buy good and resell with markup.
Actually ebay has become much more reliable and their are some very good prices.
I really take good care of my gear and my rating and buyers comments are great.
The popular cameras and lens from the big 3 lose value quickly now because new versions are coming
at a much faster pace in recent years. Sony’s success they are now number 2 in sales
Has been been frenetic. I waited and bought a new a7s II recently with almost 20% off.
Good used gear (a seller with 98 to 100% rating is reliable) they have a good processes
now. A buyer must receive the item before PayPal releases the funds. I think the idea
is get the best gear at the best price.
