When we lived in Texas we would go for a ride in the country and no matter which way we drove, we would find ourselves in Anderson.
Anderson is a city in Grimes County, Texas. The population was 222 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat. The city and its surroundings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Anderson Historic District. Here are a few photos from there.

Great RR. You'll have to come up to LaScie, NFLD this winter or for the ice bergs next Spring.

Paris, France might not seem to be "rubble" but to many Parisians in the late 1800s, the Latin Quarter at the base of Montmartre was the most despicable, filthiest place on earth, so the "decent" citizens raised an enormous sum to buy the hilltop and construct a beautiful new, white Roman Catholic cathedral which, archtecturally, is very different from the traditional French churches. Known as the Basilica du Sacre Coeur de Montmartre, it was a direct challenge to the communist denizens of the Pigalle. The foundation stone was laid in 1875, but the consecration was delayed until after World War I.

Since we are getting toward the end of the last day of this challenge, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed here! You have posted some photos of "beauty amid the rubble" not to mention some beautiful "rubble" and you have made my first time hosting a challenge into an enjoyable experience. Thanks to all of you!
