If the photographer doesn't know his/her camera you don't get the shot either.

Are we comparing cameras with cameras or cameras with phones?
The very best camera to me is the one that I, as the photographer, know how to use and that I have with me when a photo-op comes up. Unfortunately, photo-ops rarely announce themselves, they just happen.
Beyond that discussing "the best camera" is like asking "what's the best car?" It will get you nowhere except to hot disagreements.

I agree to all the sayings Yep the modern day cameras are
really something, ny first camera was a Canon reflex but no auto to it way back in 1946 and I have watched them improve over all the years.
Cameras today are really something I never would have be
possible at that time. Cheers to all camera owners! Roy86
years!
I have to say from experience...a poor quality piece of junk camera that doesn't take a decent picture is as useful as no camera at all...even when the perfect opportunity presents itself!! Looking forward to a Nikon d5100 for those prefect opportunities in my future!
Since we're talking Best, I'd love suggestions on a gift for my daughter.
She's a designer in LA (good eyes and lots to shoot plus she's savvy about tech and post production) but hasn't had her own camera except iPhone for years since taking a photo course in college (back in the darkroom era).
She'd be shooting a lot of inside shots and some outside, plus video. Not likely to shoot sports or extreme telephoto. She borrowed my Nikon D7100 and wide angle lens and decided she wants her own.
I'm willing to spend some $ for a camera that will let her stretch (it's a birthday gift). Suggestions??

If you want to own a real super dooper camera and at a very
good price which takes wonderful pictures so clear and sharp
go for the latest Pentax K5. Very good price and is so good
Quality its VALUE!

It seems that to SOOO many people, the ONLY cosideration to buying a camera is COST!!
I've always found that somewhat self defeating!!!

If you go by resolution per £ then the Nikon D800E has NO rivals, and it is a joy to use.
That is kind of a difficult comparison, since the D800E is discontinued.
However, Amazon still has a few. I believe the Pentax K-1 uses the same sensor, and even though the K-1 is a newer model, at Amazon it is priced less in dollars than the D800E is - I don't know what the comparison in your currency is.

When I consider cost I look for the most weight for the buck. Cameras should be sold by the pounds.

So then let it die again. Zombies cause trouble.
I wonder if the OP still have the K5.
