I finally “cut the cord” with my cable provider. One of the most frustrating things I do is take the shot of a lifetime and get nothing but tail feathers.

The second is trying to find something to watch on one of 200 channels. Sorry, but I am tired of paying to watch “Cup Cake Wars”, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”, “Little Housewife’s of Atlanta” and Bulgarian soccer. And I am paying to the tune of about $100 a month.

I also cut the landline. Don’t need it, the security system is cellular and all I got on the landline was 10 robo calls a day.
So now I have...

Netflix $10 a month.
Amazon Prime comes with my membership.
Hulu $7.99 a month.
Curiosity Stream $2.99 a month.

Grand total $21 a month for almost 500,000 movies and TV episodes.

Just wondering if anyone out there has done the same.

Let's see.

Free Over the air on TV
$30 mo NET10 Cell
Free Internet. I eat lunch 4 times a week at the Senior Center. Nutritious diet (losing weight), and I just go there for free wifi, where I mostly do my camera buy/sell on eBay, Etsy, and SGW.Com, and all my eMail.

Sounds about right. Could knock the NET10 down a bit.

Got rid of cable back in the 90's and went with the big satellite dish. When they turned it off, I was left with antenna. It has improved since then by adding netflix and a Roku unit which brings in over 2500 channels. Most are junk but a few are OK. Also the antenna in recent years has been adding channels; where I live we are up to 17 now. Most are decent. Also have a DVR (no subscription) made by channel master for antenna TV. It has 2 HD tuners and you can add up to 3 TB hard drive. You can record two programs at the same time, watch them late and skip over the commercials; watching an hour show in about 40 minutes. The unit is excellent but the program guide stinks; they can never get it right even after trying for over 2 years.

Not familiar with all these options could you tell me a little about KODI, if everything is free how do the other cable and dish companies allow that to happen?

If you pay Amazon by the year $99.00, you forgot to add it in your total $8.25 per month total $29.25 per month.

The best way to get your answer is to google Kodi and there is all the answers. My self I don't care about these companies any more then they care about me. Look at the prices they charge. You watch 20 minutes of commercials for every hour of programs which they charge high prices and then you have to pay a lot of money on top of that. Like everything today is over priced. Go google Kodi and see for yourself and save some money and view a lot more then you are viewing now.I have to keep cable because I'm caring for a disabled person that has no idea on how to use a computer but with the use of Kodi I am also able to get all those paid stations like HBO, Cinamax, sports channels and everything else that is broadcast-ed....Rich

I did go to google and did a search but with my limited knowledge of these tablets I don't want to screw something up . There was an app in the App Store for Kodi but it looked pretty complicated to setup. But, you may have already answered my biggest question in that the costs are very high. The one post seemed to indicate there was no cost or I didn't understand the post. Thanks for the info but the setup for this looks really complicated for someone with my limited knowledge of this stuff.

It cost nothing to download to your desk top computer. I don't use a tablet so I know nothing about them. If you can find someone to do it for you that would be the way to go. My neighbor did it for me. I'm not that good with computers that's why I had my neighbor do it. He was the one that told me about it in the first place and then did it for me. Today I watched a couple of shows that I like that were on the other day. They were Chicago P.D.,Chicago Fire, Designated Survivor, and Scandal ...Rich

We got rid of DISH 10 + years ago- got a Mac mini; internet to our 52" SHARP Aquas; Hulu +; Amazon Prime; Netflix and an existing chimney mount external antenna for local tv + many sub channels.Dumped the land line too.Cellular or internet. We could still charge cells off the car batteries in case of power failures too.
