Thank you so much for posting your wonderful abstract, Trish, and the subtle use of it as a texture layer.

A few folks saw in my FYC topic how I used your image as a bit more "in your face" texture

Out of focus photos shot through rain-covered glass have endless possibilities as backgrounds and texture overlays, as well as being eye-catching abstracts on their own.

Your time and interest are very much appreciated!

frjack's Glass and Light series this morning got me to thinking about photos I'd taken through glass or of glass. I pulled an older one, and one not quite so old, to start. Please share yours!

Also, please feel free to go into detail about how you took the image you are posting. Hopefully, we'll all learn and be inspired by the thread. Thanks for joining in!

#1 - confounding mess or mesmerizing? I was outside standing close to the window and shooting into the building - lens nearly touching the glass. View is into a small sunlit chapel and out a window opposite side. Light source (sun) is from the window across from the candle. The rest in the frame (large tree, grass, blue sky) is reflection of what was behind me.

I'm so pleased you were interested in posting, Richard. Thank you! Love your stoplight shot, very different.

Looking in (to all that yummy food) vs. looking out through bars (edit - not really bars)... Hmm, I'll go with #3

Glad you enjoyed my strangely lit and reflected chapel/tree shot!

Thanks
It is just a vacation snapshot shot hand held whilst walking around Salzburg, Austria, one evening. Taken through the store front window.

Her';s the exuif info.
Canon EOS 350D Digital (entry level DSLR)
17.0-85.0 mm (lens)
ƒ/6.3 @ 17.0 mm (approx 28mm in full frame terms) @ 1/100 and ISO 400
Flash (off, did not fire)

I must admit the food looks pretty good, however we dined out at classical music (Mozart) concerts both evenings.

It's a very interesting shot. The people the server is attending reflected in a mirror behind him as well? Detail galore.. wine, seafood.
Glad you took it!
