Very sad. My dad was an avid amateur photographer (who I got the bug from) and had a collection of Popular Photography issues from the 50's and early to mid 60's. I loved to read them. Some of the old ads were a lot of fun.

Looks like American Photo is also on its way out. I once subscribe to both of them. Does anyone remember Modern Photography magazine?

Boy, I loved getting American photo. Was a very nice magazine. :-( So sad for all the print media, most is on its way out. Cheers.

I would occasionally take a peek at Popular Photography website for free. Last winter, Shutterbug Magazine made a two year print subscription offer to me. It was about $22.00, and they gave me a free key SD card case that holds 2 cards. An offer I couldn't refuse. I was always interested in the Camera of the Year Award, Popular Photography selected annually.

I just spoke to Bonnier Publications at this phone number: 555-237-3697. I inquired about them ceasing publication and was told that this is "absolutely not true".

I guess the rest of my subscription is gone. Not a lot of money but I am retired and every penny means something!

Call them at 515-237-3697. Have your customer number ready.

What are good Brit photo mags and how can we in US subscribe?

Digital Camera World is my favourite. We can buy it at any large bookstore but you can also subscribe through their website.

Hey guys and gals... No worries here... I totally love my two favorite photo magazines... VOGUE and Architectural Digest... And they are doing fabulous! Their issues keep getting thicker and absolute high quality imagery is the rule not the exception!

Condé Nast owns both of these rags and is doing a stellar job with them... ‎Anna Wintour the Editor of VOGUE has really brought this publication to it's zenith...

I shoot commercial fashion / beauty and trust me VOGUE is the gold standard... Likewise I assist many architectural shooters in my market and without exception they all subscribe to Architectural Digest which again is the gold standard for this genre...

Strongly recommend a subscription to each if you have any aspirations in shooting commercially in either of those genre's...
As for Popular Photography? Historically entirely focused on hobbyist and as such merely a marketing vehicle for kit vendors...

Do your research folks.... Determine the actual circulation of rags that address the needs/desires of your client base... only then will you likely be able to make meaningful inferences as to the merit/worth of a magazine as it relates to your commercial aspirations...

Darwinian selection always brings out the very best while eliminating the less fit in any market (or life form)...
And it's always been that way... adapt, evolve or go extinct... btw this indeed holds for those currently making a living with a camera...
btw, it's a brave new world for those migrating to video, enough said...

Hope this brings a ray of light and optimism into the gloom/doom scenario seeing here thus far...

I can't access my many paid for digital issues, and the company has been no help at all. I guess I know why now.

Not surprising. In addition to the pitfalls of the print media in a digital age, the sale of digital cameras is falling, even in the dslr class. Foreboding...

Sorry to say, but the march issue of Popular Photography magazine was the last issue, they are closing their "doors".

I suspect that this is "Fake News" or "Alternative Facts" the Russians are probably behind this!

I used to get both magazines. I decided Popular Photography had too many adds so I stopped subscribing to it. I had let my American Photo subscription lapse and in time I decided not to renew it. I have found 2 very good magazines from Canada and England that are much better. They have more in depth articles and better photos. There are several other foreign magazines that are very good. If I had the money, I would also subscribe to them as well. It is sad but I believe the competition did them in. This is what is happening to many American companies, they don't go under because it is foreign competition, but because they fail to change. Take Kodak for example. They invented digital photography, but failed to capitalize on it. As a photo company they are no longer in business. George must be rolling in his rave.
