Got to thinking about the cameras I've had over the years and thought I'd pose the question - what was the first digital camera you bought?

My first digital was the 1st Generation Canon Rebel, EOS 300D (or DS6041) I bought back in 2003. When it first came out it was touted as the first connsumer-grade digital camera that could be had for under $1000 ($999.00 with kit lens). It has a whopping 6.3 MP sensor and came with a very crappy 18-55mm lens. I think the shooting speed is measured is seconds-per-frame and not frames-per-second LOL. I still have this camera, and even occasionally shoot with it just for old time sake. For just stuff you want to paste to Facebook it's not too bad actually.

When I started this thread, I stated my first Digital camera was the First Gen Digital Rebel. Technically that was "my" first digital camera. However, my wife had a point and shoot before I got my Rebel, so I ought to include it here since I did use it as much as she did. Her camera was an Epson PhotoPC 600 (Picture of camera attached) purchases around 1995-ish. It had a whopping .81MP and a max shutter speed of 1/500. Also attached is a picture of our cat Devon taken with that Epson. The pink stripe you see was an artifact that appeared in every picture after I had tripped with the camera and fell with it in hand.

Agfa, 1999 model for pennies less than $500 (mfr. price to us "insiders". Not sure the chip was measured in Mega or just kilo pixels.

Here it is.
Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-F505-2-1MP-Digital-Camera
My spouse purchased it for my BD, Paid 1K which is many times more than what I am worth. I was disappointed with the
performance but it was 1999. I was using a 35 mm camera so you understand. But it was my BD. Still have the camera but LCD is dead.
Available on Line at E-Bay for $35.00.

Check out the Zeiss Lens

First digital camera was an Epson, don't recall the model but it was a p&S and I think it was a whopping 3mp in 1998. Don't have any photos readily available but was used on a cruise up in Alaska in 1999.

My 1st digital was a Kodak C613 P&S. 6.2 mp, 3x zoom. Took decent shots.
Next was a Kodak Z710. I think this was called a bridge camera? Still a P&S but a good bit more versatile. 7.1 mp, 10x zoom.
Graduated to my 1st DSLR in a Nikon D70. 6.1 mp (almost as much as the Kodak C613! LOLOL) Bought it used with a 50mm prime lens. Couldn't seem to get the hang of it though so...
I popped for the Nikon D5100. Got a decent little kit going with it - 3 lenses, couple tripods, filters, etc. Still trying to master it. Having fun.

Canon PowerShot S50. That thing was a brick, but the 5 MP images were far better than they had any right to be.

My first serious digital camera was a Sony A77, but I quickly left Sony A mount for E mount with the NEX 7, then moved to Canon and finally Leica.

The first True Digital camera was the Sony VX700 DV Cam. Granted it was a video cam put it did have a camera mode and with the Radius DV PCI card that came out in early 1997 I was able to get the photos and video on to my my Mac 9500 180DP Mhz Tower. I had a Dual Processor on my Mac back in 1996. I was able to make a Quicktime VR 360 degree Panorama of the front of my house in 1997 with it. This was before you had the cool hardware rigs for your tri-pod to find your Nodal point of Camera to make a panorama. My first true Digital still camera was a Kodak DC4800 in 2000 it had 3.34 Megapixel CCD (3.1 effective Megapixel) with a complete set of of external lens that required an adapter to use. The ones that were really usefully were the Macro lens which had a 10x and 7x lense which could be combined to get 17x magnification of things like a bee. It is hard to imagine that it has been 21 Years since I started shooting DV Video in 1996.

A Canon S50 point & shoot. It could produce 5mp RAW CRW files. Shutter lag was my biggest complaint.

My second digital, and overall, a good one.

Mine was an HP camera that came with my HP printer. And then I had to buy a new computer to use it! Took really crappy pictures and the prints prove it. I thought digital would NEVER work.

After a few others along the way including Kodak and Sony, I got a Canon Power Shot G5. It took amazing pictures and I changed my mind about digital. No shutter lag either. It still works. We just gave it to our son. He used to have one like it but it was stolen.

My first DSLR was the Nikon D5000. Considered a Canon because we loved the G5 so much; but the Nikon was more comfortable in my hand.
