Leon -"They are our senior-years children who think they own this house." Don't they, though? I wouldn't have it any other way. Shelter pets, rule!

I was asked by a local animal shelter to take some photos of animals to put on line to help with their adoption. We were given a room with fluorescent light, not the optimal, but here's a few that we did. I tried to get down to their level, but it's not easy as they are nervous and mobile, and I'm old and stiff. BIF is a walk in the park compared to these guys. Any tips and C&C would be welcome to help with the next session. Dogs are even harder than cats because they are so starved for attention. I'm only posting cats here. I was asked to do a face shot and body shot. I had to clean dog snot off of my lens several times. I was surprised that 75% of the dogs there are pit bulls or pit bull mixes. I'll post some of them later.

Nice photos. Thanks for getting involved and helping out. I am always looking for ways to help others with my photography. As a side note, both of my dogs are rescues, but I'm not sure who rescued who.

Thanks, grillmaster5062! I'm glad to help if I can. There are so many animals that need help.

You make me proud to know you Dianne. I've always loved animals and love that people try to help them out. Photography is a great idea for folks who live some distance away, but fall in love with the image on an animal.

I like your first image the best and from it, make a recommendation. If you can use a wide aperture that will blur the backgrounds and highlight the animal, I think it looks better (doesn't emphasize the architecture of the pet shelter, but hey!, it looks really good on the cats and dogs.)

Very pretty but then I love cats. You framed them very nicely.
