I was asked by a local animal shelter to take some photos of animals to put on line to help with their adoption. We were given a room with fluorescent light, not the optimal, but here's a few that we did. I tried to get down to their level, but it's not easy as they are nervous and mobile, and I'm old and stiff. BIF is a walk in the park compared to these guys. Any tips and C&C would be welcome to help with the next session. Dogs are even harder than cats because they are so starved for attention. I'm only posting cats here. I was asked to do a face shot and body shot. I had to clean dog snot off of my lens several times. I was surprised that 75% of the dogs there are pit bulls or pit bull mixes. I'll post some of them later.

They are so precious. My wife and I adopted two cats from a shelter. We love them dearly.

They are great shots of those cats. If people don't adopt after seeing those they are blind. LoL.
These are fantastic, Dianne! You caught animated, interested expressions. I would love to have Croissant join the family; alas, Trixie is not interested in sharing the lap or the recliner...

Thanks, fourg1b2006! I had to control myself from taking them all home. I already have two cats.

Thank you, infocus! I sure hope you're right, that's what it's all about.

Thanks so much, Linda! I would have loved to take her home, but my two cats (and Greg) wouldn't be happy. To its credit, it's a wonderful shelter, clean, full of volunteers, and large, comfortable cages.
These shots will help with adoption of them and their neighbors at the shelter. We adopted two at the pound that are real cuddlers. Then 2 weeks later I went back and adopted one more, I kept calling the pound to see if she was still there, I couldn't risk getting a "no, sorry". That makes 4 inside cats and two elderly barn cats who loaf a lot. And 6 cats make me the crazy cat lady!
You have a definite knack at getting such excellent captures. Maybe offer a tiny print to the new "parents"? They could show them to potential adopters...

Thanks, luvmypets! I do too, but I already have two cats and a husband. That's enough for now.
For anyone even remotely thinking of adopting a cat, these shots should win them over. You did a great job!
BTW - how many did you take home?
