I had 2 older brothers who trained there. 1 graduated in the Summer of '60 and the 2nd in December '62. There was a bad snow storm and no transportation. He walked to the nearest road and put his thumb out and was picked up right away. The man asked him where he was going my brother Nick told him he was from suburban Phila. The driver replied he was going to Upper Darby Pa. which is about 15 minutes from where we lived at that time. They shared the drive and got out of there. He retired 32 years later as a Captain.

I went by train from Connecticut to New York (Whitehall) for induction on 07 Aug 67. Then to Great Lakes via train.

After boot camp I went to NCTC Pensacola for A School.

Following A School I was stationed at NAVCOMMSTA HONO for 2 years.

From Hawaii I was stationed at NAVCOMMSTA Sidi Yahia, Morocco as my last duty station.

While in Morocco I qualified for a six month early out. I took my separation at Quonset Point, Rhode Island as a CTO-3. 07 Feb 71.

I did mine at the same RTC starting on Jan 22, 1952. Did you get the lumpy buck that I got. We were Company 51 and our commander was Chief Katoski, bos'un.

I went to Great Lakes 57 years ago. Remember the "strip" across the street from the main entrance?
