The view of Reids Hotel is looking across from my balcony. It is an upmarket hotel which dates back to 1891. It was built on behalf of man called William Reid, the son of a Scottish Crofter, but he died befor it opened in 1891. Included in its many visitors were Winston Churchill, George Bernard Shaw and the pioneer colour photographer Sarah Angelina Acland who stayed there in the early 1920's. The hotel had a darkroom for use by the guests.
The truck reversed into to view as I took the shot, so I just left it there, it contained water for the plants.

Feel like I'm there, Beautiful set!! Love the narrow streets
Super shots Sylvia and thanks for sharing . We have just arrived in Eastbourne and hoping the weather stays fair.
Fantastic series, Sylvia. I enjoyed these very, very much. Talk about getting a sense of place!
My favorites for composition are Promenade, and Eating Lunch. I think having the truck in #2 is a great way to show scale. Amazing how many homes look to be packed onto the hillsides.
Looks nice. I liked the narrow street, lunch and that's a nice cat you have in #7.
You've certainly put the fun in Funchal with these, Sylvia! Pretty place and beautiful tour photos. Enjoyed seeing them, and thanks for sharing.

Your very kind Linda, always pleased to read your detailed comments, appreciate them very much. Madeira is a favourite place have been a number of times, beautiful scenery, friendly people and scrumptious food. Not a place for youngsters really, no amusement places etc. :D

Lunch was delicious too! The cat was huge and I pondered how to shoot it, I gave up in the end as I couldn't fit everything in, so used it as a frame. lots of narrow streets to wander along with plenty of bars and eateries. Appreciate your comments Mathias, thank you very much. :D

Excellent set Sylvia... Looks like you are having a nice holiday! I really very much enjoyed the view of that first one and the one with the bistros and restaurants on the street. Looks like the weather is superb... What is the temperature like?
