For anyone who has doubts that the build quality of the Sigma 150-600mm Sport model can justify its cost ($1999), all you need to do is take a look and the lens PRIOR to anodizing and painting the finished product.

This lens is built to endure. And optically it is built to perform! The skyrocketing demand means a long waiting list, but the wait is worth it. I love this lens and it will NOT disappoint!

After the reviews I could find I got the Tamron 150-600mm. And I am extremely pleased.
I put the $1000.00 bucks I saved toward the Nikon D800E I just bought. Didn't see that one coming. I can't wait to put the two together.

And, if interested, if you wait @ another month, so I've heard, you would also have a choice of the Sigma Contemporary. I can say, like MT and Don & others, the Sport version is fabulous. Alas, more expensive.

Thanks cjc2 for your comments. The Contemporary is definitely something I would consider. I would guess that it will be priced to compete with the Tamron which is actually $1069, not $1099 as I mis-typed above.

In any case, I won't be ready to buy anytime soon as I have too many higher priorities before I get to new toys.

The Sport, alas, would be at the top of the most desired list, but at that price, at the bottom of the bought by Madman list.

I can see your point, you will be able to take it to any professional sport activity ( where pro stuff is not allowed ) and no one will take you seriously. Good thinking.

Me too. Only Carter shoots in -16!😱😱

Thanks cjc2. It isn't so much the -16, it's just a lack of good subjects. Only salt trucks, slush and cars in ditches. Most wildlife around here is laying low and I'm NOT going by the Lake or the marina for a while. It's "dead" out there with nothing to shoot worthwhile except big waves and I have a lot of those images already.
I know Carter had been itching to get SigZilla out for a trial run, but being a businessman his time is well allocated.

Best of luck with SigZilla. You are going to love it. Robert's is good with shipping. I'm sure they shipped it today. You should have it real soon. Congrats.

Other than the build quality and waterproofing would you compare and contrast the two versions?

No one can do that yet, since the Contemporary version does not yet exist.

The Tamron is a good lens; I did get to shoot with one for a short time, but I think the Sigma Sport is better. Carter or Robert's may even have one of the Tamrons.! I believe the price on the Sigma Contemporary will be $1099 and I believe that will include a case, which is not included with the Tamron. Good luck with whatever you decide.

well that would be a quick $100for any one who snaps it up just to re sell
right away as soon as they get it . as long as the warrenty goes with it
which I'm sure it does as it would be for a year to who ever has it .

it's not a idea it's like stocks . if something is in demand it's a no brainer . people will buy it for a $100 more just to get it now . as long as the warrenty if transferble . your in the buiessness you know that how many do ypu have stashed , ready to sell at a profit . if you don't have a few , your missing the boat . supply and demand . you could get more than a $100 profit for each one . but you also know that .

And you should know that an honest person would never pll that kind of scam because manufacturers warranties on camera gear are never transferrable.

Lesson learned. Never buy anything from Bram Boy.
