Thanks.....indeed it must be a virus....like my other infections ....flying and sailboats.....no cure.....

Boating is the ultimate worst form of G.A.S.

I haven't tried flying yet(with a plane, that is.)

Worst than G.A.S. (but burns a ton of it too)

Gear Acquisition Syndrome.

A Sickness of the sorts that can cause a strain on the bank account - and loss of wife... That is if you still have one.

It can be assonated with O.C.P.D. Obsessive Compulsive Photography Disorder.

See Link....

Between photography, film making, sound recording and cooking, I stay in a perpetual state of gas. B&H, Dominion Camera, Filmtools, Able Cine, Guitar Center, Chuck Levins, DSP Doctor, Sur LaTable, BB&B, and Williams Sonoma are always glad to see me coming. Its not always the high ticket items either. Widgets, gadgets, and accessories can drain the wallet also. Ten bucks here. Thirty bucks there. The only consolation is that I actually use everything I acquire. I'm sick... so sick... Oh hopeless me....d

The funny part is that as soon as you get it "fixed", someone with lesser gear takes a better photo.

And with a smartphone camera!

It can also mean the importance of something. Ex: A low gas factor means you don't Give A S--t.

One thing to be said about G.A.S. is that it is a chronic, but not fatal disease.

Just cured a recent attack by replacing my barely used D700 with a new D810. I feel so much better ! (Temporarily). By the way this also affects golfers as my garage could attest to.

Surely it can be treated if you win the Mega-Millions lottery. :D :D :D :D

G.A.S. Def: Gear Aquisition Syndrome (G.A.S.) a malady found most particularly in photographers. Symptoms include the feeling that if you only had a better_________________(fill in the blank), then your photos would be so much better. There is no known cure, but can be alleviated by visiting B and H's website.

That makes no sense. Would you treat sex addiction with a trip to a massage parlor?

LOL...
I have a double case of G.A.S.
My significant other has taken to dSLR addiction.
So I'm to feed two addictions; hers and mine.
... for Christmas, she got a Manfrotto Pro Backpack 20:
Her birthday is 20 days away; so the 14-24 (2.8) Lens I have stashed will have a home

and so it goes...
