Is that your boat Don? You need to move it down to the Gulf!!

Yes it is Steve. One day I will be down there. Although this morning it was -8* here. Not real conducive for boating. She is tucked away in a heated warehouse till May 2nd. Launch day .

I just called Arlington Camera and the sale is on now. I have two waiting for me....the 24-70 f2.8 and the 70-200 f2.8 VRII. I've been saving for this sale. Now I've gotta start saving for next year!!!

Way to go Steve. Keep the economy moving!

Thanks guys...I've had my D800 for a couple of years and had to wait on the lenses to go with it.

Don....Chicago and Lake Michigan are great places. I have some great pics of my oldest daughter on the beach along Lakeshore Dr. over 30 years ago.

Picked up the two lenses this morning. Here's what I think. The 24-70 f2.8 is a dream. It's fast, sharp, just the right size and just the right focal length range. I can't recommend this one enough. If you don't have it, pick it up before the sale is over.

The 70-200mm is just as fast and sharp, but weighs a ton. It's a lot heavier than my 28-300mm. It's going to see a lot of tripod use and I may pick up a monopod. It's going to take some getting used to. I will handhold it, but my technique will have to improve. I do, however, hope to use this lens for portraits.

These will be great lenses with the D800.

I dodged the G.A.S. bullet today at Costco.Really liked the way the new Canon G7X felt in my hands. I also picked up a Nikon D5500 and liked how it fit in my hands. I have a perfectly good camera and lenses at home and it hit me...I got G.A.S. I convinced myself to walk away. this time.

G.A.S. also afflicts computer nerds. THEY Need the fastest processor, fAstest video card, largest memory , biggest hard drive.
Also sail boaters, we need the latest sail technology, the lightest rigging, the fastest hulls, new 4 speed electric winch,
Trust me, GAS for a photographer is CHEAp when compared to a sailboater.
