The only lens I ever use on my 7D and now 7D MarkII is my 300mm f/4 prime lens. Someday I would like to get the 400mm f/5.6 prime lens.

Ahhh great! I just bought that lens on Ebay (just got it the other day). Anyway, here are my first shots with the new camera. These are with the Canon 10-18mm wide angle. Lighting wasn't great (dusk with uninteresting sky) but these are a friend's 1956 Austin Healey 100M.

Jan, these are OK for beginners. Naw, they are fantastic! Seriously, you GO with your new rig! These shots are great (IMHO). You are expressing the desire to get and use the 400mm? Keep in mind this lens does not have IS. Most folks over-look that fact and shoot a fast shutter. Now you will be able to shoot lots of fast shutter shots. Have fun with the new toy.

Thanks for your kind words David....I really appreciate it! Love my 300mm...but the 400 would give me more reach and you don't need IS for flight shots. Love the fast focus and and fast shooting of this new camera...it has a hair trigger

Carolina Wings, Thank you for posting the nice shots with your new camera and also the informative details. Can you elaborate on your note about not needing IS for flight shots? If it's because you use a tripod, I understand. If you are hand holding, I would think you'd want to use IS. Thank you again.

Hey guys....Please don't forget to check the 'store original' box when you upload. Otherwise we have no real way to evaluate, eh?

Put my hands on a 7D II at B&H in NYC yesterday. FELT EXACTLY LIKE MY 5D III. BUTTON LOCATION ON THE BACK IS NEARLY AN IDENTICAL MATCH. Asked lots of questions at the Canon second floor kiosk and clicked away. Boy, is that shutter ever quiet... just another selling point for sure. Had real trouble putting it down and walking away.

Followed-up by attending a mini-seminar highlighting the 7D II at the Canon booth at the pdn Photo Convention in the Javits Center. They not only demo-ed a gent spinning up to five basketballs (tettered shooting mode, WONDERFUL IN-CAMERA RESULTS.They also hooked up the camera so we could get a look the menu with tips concerning various types of action shots and discussed other items.

BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU ARE INTO SPORTS AND/OR BIRDING SAVE YOUR CHANGE... THIS CAMERA BODY IS A GEM! (NOPE, I don't work for Canon.)

First shot with my New Canon 7D MKII with my new 300mm f4 Prime and my new 1.4 II extender. (not first shot with 7DM2, just with all three new gear at the same time) This was just a quick shot of a bunny in our yard. Can't wait to really get out and about with this combo.

I have a 5Dlll & the 7Dll is coming sometime Mon. I really want to test my longer lenses on different subjects with & without adapters with both lenses & compare my results. I have 400 5.6, 70-200 ll is & 300 2.8 & I would like to compare results to see if the 7Dll is an advantage when shooting distant subjects. I love my 5D but, I could always use more reach. Bab

Your wife had a 100M? Too bad she doesn't have it now - they are very rare and real 100Ms are selling easily well north of $100k these days! My friend's 100M in the picture is thought to be the oldest known example in existence. (the second 100M off the line, but the first is believed to have been lost or destroyed). That car is worth more than my house!

Can't wait to see your pheasant shots!
