Have any of you ever been to one of these places and taken photo's?
I've been to Cappadocia, Victoria Falls, Northern Vietnam, Yellowstone and honorable mentions Swiss Alps and Yosemite. I am not an artist so my back yard does not yield exciting photos for me.
My list would look a lot different, I've been to 2, 9,17; the rest, I would like to do some of them, some not (security reasons). But what about the ones not mentioned like Rocky Mountain National Park, Glacier National Park, darn near the whole state of Alaska and just about every national park in this country.
I don't know who made the list, but to lump all of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona into one, lump both the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone into one, and then to put Hawaii and Yosemite as honorable mentions, I think that's lame.
I think instead this is a list of "interesting" natural places.

I go to French Polynesia every year. When I asked my wife to marry me I said I'd take her to FP every year. Next month will be trip #19 ............ 16 days of paradise :D

I have photographed Waterfalls of Iceland, Norwegian Fjords, Canadian Rockies and Colorado Plateau (a number of places they lumped into one). On my short list are Yellowstone and Victoria Falls. I live in the beautiful Okanagan in central British Columbia and there are lots of photo ops here as well. Problem is there are too damn many roads, power lines, houses and people! I liked that film. It gave me itchy feet.
This is same story as most of the folks who live in Buffalo, NY. Most haven't seen the Falls. Then there's the Statue of Liberty issue, and the Golden Gate Bridge too. BTW, who turns on the Sun most days?

I have been to the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. I definitely want to go back to both places as We were unable to do any walking around because we were on a bus and time was limited. The little b it of both places I saw were breathe taking!!! Go if you have the chance and spend as much time as you can in the Grand Canyon!!
Rode horseback on our own horses in the Yellowstone, Boulder, Wind River range, and Teton range, as well as the Weminuche Wilderness area of the Colorado Rockies. The horses allowed us to get deeper into the wilderness areas in the amount of time we had to do so. Took slides with Nikon 35mm film cameras with a variety of lenses and filters. Have to dig them out of storage and go through them after seeing the above. This country and world have so much beauty, and I envy those who have seen such areas as Iceland, Norway, etc.
For those of you who live close enough, Big Bend National Park is a beautiful area of mountains and desert. Some great photo ops.
Thank you for that.
Alas, my bucket list doesn't have enough time to make much progress on that list.
But I have done a few.

Why do so many photographers/people think they have to travel great distances to get great photos?
Generally speaking; "Look in your "back yard"!
You don't need to travel anywhere to get great pics, but traveling feeds the soul and nourishes the mind, whether you have a camera with you or not!!
