So Nikon just announced the new D810 with an expeed 4 processor, expanded ISO range (32 - 51,200), 5 fps shooting, no olp filter, & higher resolution screen. How many of you are going to order it as a replacement for your 800/800e or upgrade from what you are shooting now?

I would need to see significant improvements in image quality to trade up from my D800E.

I doubt it is that much of an improvement.

I think that when this camera becomes available we all should rush out and buy one or two.

Personally I think the best thing that will come out of this is that either the price of new D800s will go down or there will be a bunch of used ones go on the market from those with more money to spend than I have.

An old farmer is sitting on his front porch watching the sunrise when he sees the neighbor's kid walk by carrying a spool of something metallic under his arm. "Hey boy, whatcha got there?"
"Chicken wire."
"What you gonna do with that?"
"Gonna catch me some chickens."
"You damn fool! You can't catch chickens with chicken wire!" says the old man.
The boy just laughs and keeps walking. That evening at sunset, the boy walks by, dragging behind him a dozen chickens caught in the chicken wire.
The next morning, the old man sees the boy walk by carrying a shiny roll of something. "Hey boy, whatcha got there?"
"Duct tape."
"What you gonna do with that?"
"Gonna catch me some ducks."
"You damn fool! You can't catch ducks with duct tape!"
The boy just laughs and keeps walking. That evening at sunset, the boy walks by, trailing behind him 10 ducks caught in a long trail of duct tape.
The next morning, the old man sees the boy walking by carrying a branch behind him. "Hey boy, whatcha got there?"
"It's pussy willow."
"Wait up there a minute," says the old man. "I'll get my hat!"

For my purposes the D800 is all I need in landscapes and close-ups, it's the best camera I ever owned. Here are my two cents, most photographers are braggers, like I have an XYZ camera with that and that lens, would the new Nikon 810 make you a better photographer? If you think so, go for it. For me its like this if I own a Porsche Carrera SC (Idon't.) would that make me a better driver?

Using the D800, or D810, instead of a camera like the D5100 won't make you a better photographer, but it will make your photographs better. Just like driving a Carrera won't make you a better driver, but it will make your driving more fun. :-D

Is there anyone out there that has used one? I have great Nikon 2.8 glass so here we go!
Thanks
Tom

Of everyone, you are exactly the person who should be paying attention to the D810.

I have owned the D800E for 6 months now and bought it with the $300 discount promo. I will keep it for now even though the D810 has some nice improvements.
