If you want to do videos. buy a video camera, if you want to shoot photos then buy a canon and shoot photos. that's pretty easy to understand.

I'm sure glad you took the time to point that out to everyone. You can go back to kicking your dog now.

LF, and if they don't come forward, are you gonna hunt them down and spank them, like the dogs that they are?!

I told you, no spanking! That's something you and Lukan will have to work out between yourselves! I'll be happy to run the 1Dx though! :D

LF, I was hesitant to respond earlier because you asked for 70D experience, and I have none! Also, someone, and I won't mention who, TOLD you to go buy a video camera if it's video you want to shoot, so I'm here to just add my two cents. Do not buy a "video" camera... You already have one.
The DSLR world today, 70D included, IS ALL ABOUT VIDEO. Hollywood uses 5DMk3s and others to regularly shoot broadcast programming, so inarguably, these fine cameras for stills also take great video.
And bravo, I like your posts.
 :D

Thanks, but to tell the truth I have never taken video with a 70D, or any other DSLR. I sold my 70D to MTShooter recently. He rented it to a customer who took it on a trip to shoot video with and now is having issues with the playback that seems to be totally out of character for the 70D. Carter is scratching his head and I am trying to get info that might help him figure it out. Now, lets get back to this spanking thing with you and SS. Which one of you wants to lead off? Make sure those batteries in that 1Dx are fully charged! :D

No, the person wasn't using an STM lens. I had read that elsewhere but I wasn't sure if it was correct. Can you point me towards any references? Thanks.

Here is one reference:

OK now, just for the record, I'm in for just about anything!
I don't care how it goes down, BUT, I'm always on top, and I always wear the spurs!!

Normally video is very easy and quite simple: hit the red button to start and then hit it again to stop. This problem has to be non-STM-lens related.

But I might if we can involve the dance line of young butts in your classic picture, "Dance Line Of Young Butts".
Rough and ready.

The only dog I will kick going is your dog.
Make it clear that you are trying to help a friend, don't ask a question and play stupid.

WOW, LF, I don't know. Be merciful! As the punishment should fit the crime.
Now you may have scared them of completely, as they may think you'll make them use a Nikon for a day, just for being late.
You must take into account that Canon shooters are really passionate shooters and my not even SEE the memo untill they get back after many days of glorious shooting!
Also, even just one day of using a Nikon could stunt their growth and bounce them out of the MENSA Society!!

Hey, guys! Quit it now. I have and love my Nikon. And, BTW, am a MENSA member.

Mad, you then, being a really smart guy, maybe you can explain this to me.
How is it that the fastest lens that Nikon makes is slow, yet they say it's really fast.
Or am I gonna have to ask Marilyn Savant!!

The 70D is susposedly the latest and greatest for video, and yet several people have had considerable problems with jerky video and eratic focusing. Who among you have taken Full HD video with the 70D and would you tell us how you did it. What lens, what settings, what technique, etc. This seems to be specific, so please only reply if you have experience with the 70D. Thanks!

I own the 70D and I have done nothing special. Just set the defaults for 1080 and 24fps and hit the button. My video's are smooth and very clear. I do use a very quick response SD card. At least 45 mbs.
