The organization is named "ISO" from the Latin word "Isos" ("equal" ) and is pronounced "eye-so".
That's how it was explained to me when I went through ISO accreditation auditor training.
I think that Canon uses eyeso rather than I-S-O.
I think that Nikons have a switch so you can choose either one.

Only the committee can decide that.
I started hearing and then saying A.S.A. and D.I.N. Now I use I.S.O. (But occasionally slip and say A.S.A.)
In the U.S. Army I was in the A.S.A. (unrelated to film speed) and we didn't call it "Asa".
It's an abbreviation, and I myself will continue to pronounce it as such here in the U.S.A. (Not you-sa) (c:

Does this mean you are at least partly responsible for the obfuscation of C? :XD:

Um... Has no one here noticed the the abbreviation for "International Organization for Standards"

I was saying no to the "Standards" part. It is 'Standardization'. And since I went back to look, I noticed the 'Latin'. It is 'Greek'.

I always thought C stood for "Cryptic"! C++ is even more Cryptic. ;-)
D.I.N was in between ASA and ISO, to my recollection, or perhaps simultaneous to ASA. It stood for " Deutshe Industrie Norm", or something like that, before the "ISO" became the international standard, and, if memory serves well, DIN did not directly correspond to ASA as ISO seems to. Either way, I have always heard any of them pronounced by individual vowel/ consonant, nor as one word.
The correct way is I-S-O Just as the term it replaced was pronounced A-S-A

ISO hate this discussion.
the 3 letters I S O is the proper way to say this with no spaces in between, it stands for International Standards Organization
