Enjoy your camera. Let me say this, photography isn't about the camera, it is all about light. In the right light, any camera will get an outstanding picture. In the right composition, any camera will capture a terrific image, and the same for angle, perspective and focus.

The difference between a good photographer and bad one has nothing to do with equipment but more so with visualization, preparation and light.

It is not what camera you have but what you do with it.

I looked for a while trying to decide which cameras to buy. I read ideas from a lot of people on here, and looked at a lot of different cameras and picked up a new nikon d3200. Now I was told by a member, that I should never have gotten the d3200 because its pretty much the bottom of the barrel. Unlike the rest of everyone on here I don't have the money to just drop the 3200 and go buy another camera. So I'll not post anything else on here or brother anyone with questions.

Hope everybody has a great day

Don't sell the 3200 short. For sure it is Nikons entry level camera, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it. It is capable of great photos. Back in the day, I bought my first Nikon, a D50. It was their entry level at the time. I took many great photos with it, and a few amazing looking 20x30 prints. And this is a 6 mpx camera and kit lens. The D3200 is way ahead of the D50, so don't let anyone tell you that you made a mistake. Unless you buy the very top model ($$$$$$$$$), there will always be someone there to say you could do better. Don't listen to them, and don't give up on us.

I shoot a D70. I've shot images for billboards and color catalogs. I've purchased several good lenses for it. A Pro told me once...you shoot what you can afford...the rest is up to you as the Photog!

If you look at the photo mags you will see wonderful pictures taken with the D70 which is ages behind the D3200. Just use your camera as often as possible and buy a book on how to use it (manuals tend to be unreadable ). You could also join a club and if you can afford it subscribe to NPhoto for further education.

I could comment in a way that would belittle this person but they would not be worth my time! I'm a self-taught photographer and some people think some of my work is good ( nice feeling ) but I use my photography for enjoyment. As in any hobby/sport you always find people like this who somehow have all the gear and no idea aka "PRAT". I started out with a Minolta Z3 bridge camera 4mp and I still use it today as a walk around camera now and agaid if I dont want to go out with my camera kit. It's not what you got but how you use it, enjoy the camera, the best advice I was given was shoot, shoot & shoot some moer :) I attach a photo from holiday last year taking with a Sony W320 point and shoot. I rest my case Take Care Ian..

Worst case of camera envy seen, I mean get real here I shot with a D3100 and a variety of lens and could give a damn less that someone else has a D-7100 or whatever.
Just because someone has newer and fancier equip don't make them a better shooter.

I'm still taking some pretty decent photos with my old Fuji Finepix 3000 (3mp) once in a while. A 3200 is lightyears beyond that old thing, so use your 3200 and enjoy it. If anyone told you that a 3200 is "bottom of the barrel," he's not too smart. I prefer Canons, but I'd sure take a 3200 if offered to me, and it would be more capable than I am. Stick around; we'd like to have you.

Seems to me, the most important thing you gained from buying that camera is the knowledge that there are on UHH (as everywhere) some real jerks.
I shoot with a Canon Rebel T1i, for which I occasionally receive some ridicule. It's what I can afford and I'm happy with my shots. Is it the best camera in all situations? Certainly not. Learn the capabilities of your camera and develop your skills. Two most important things to remember: don't worry about negative comments and (number 1) enjoy yourself!

Whoever told you this was not kind or accurate. Its not the bottom of the barrel, which implies a piece of junk. . It is an entry level camera which is well suited to the new DSLR user. You may eventually grow out of it and want a more feature rich camera body, or you may not. The more important key to success is the lenses you use on it. The kit lense(s) that came with it are perfectly fine. When (or if) the time comes you may want to consider upgrading to better lenses before you worry about upgrading the camera. In the meantime just enjoy it. And try to learn how to use the many features of this camera. Believe me they will keep you busy. If you spend all your time just using full auto you will miss out on what a dSLR is all about and you might just as well have gotten yourself a point and shoot camera.
