I looked for a while trying to decide which cameras to buy. I read ideas from a lot of people on here, and looked at a lot of different cameras and picked up a new nikon d3200. Now I was told by a member, that I should never have gotten the d3200 because its pretty much the bottom of the barrel. Unlike the rest of everyone on here I don't have the money to just drop the 3200 and go buy another camera. So I'll not post anything else on here or brother anyone with questions.

Hope everybody has a great day

Well, that's just rude - and there's no reason to think you can't take great photos with the D3200 (or any other modern camera, for that matter).

The art of photography is your eye; your vision of the world that you want to share with others.

The craft of photography is the technical stuff - why use a given aperture/ISO/shutter speed/lens to achieve the image in your mind's eye.

That camera has all the capabilities for you to learn the craft and hone your eye. Someone stupid enough to make that kind of comment is someone to whom you should not be listening.

The D3200 is an excellent camera. If it suits your budget and needs, it is a brilliant buy. I have had friends looking for a camera, and the D3x00 have often been what I recommended, and they have been very happy with it. One friend loves the pictures she took at her son's wedding with her D3100 and kit lens.

He must use a Canon.
I see several others beat me to the punch.
I'm wondering why anybody would make you think that it was a dumb buy? I sometimes shoot with a d40, which preceded the 3200 by a couple of digital decades, and it does everything I usually want. In the end, a camera has to have the ability to let you adjust shutter speed, f-stop, ISO and focus. Everything else is bells and whistles. What do you want to do that you think the d3200 can't do?

No such thing as "Bottom of the Barrel". You use what you can afford and you make the best damn pictures with what you got!!! My camera is average Nikon D5000 and I use my editing programs to enhance what I have all ready captured and I LOVE every one of my photographs (even if they are never going to win awards or hang in a gallery).

Also everybody has their own opinion on what camera they like or don't like. Pretty subjective. Most of them all seem to have the same features and doo dads with the exception when you get into the really super priced expensive professional camera and lenses.

Take your Nikon D3200 and go and have FUN. Go take photos, post your photos and let us see through your eyes!!

My two cents work...and I hope you have a great day also!

I could care less what anybody thinks about the camera I use, as long as it works for me and I'm satisfied with the results. My cameras are not at the bottom of the barrel ... they're not even in the barrel.

Don't be discouraged by one comment. It may be near the bottom by some peoples' estimation but you will do fine with this camera. Study the manual, learn how to use it and I'm confident you will be satisfied for years to come.

Rick, my brand of choice is Olympus. However, the same argument goes: Get to know your camera and get to know it well. Inside-out, upside-down, forwards and backwards. As you are learning, you will see your photos improve.
Then, when you feel comfortable with the camera, invite this same member to a shoot-out. If you can get together, go out together and take photos of the same subjects. If not, send each other your photos (they won't be of the same subjects, therefore more difficult to compare).
I have a feeling that some of his/her comment about your camera have a green tinge, as in jealousy.

Hope everybody has a great day[/quo Just looked up the 3200 It gets good reviews. Ok so It's not the best camera Nikon makes. So what. I am sure that a good photographer cam make wonderful photos with the camera, and I am also sure a bad photographer will not make descent photos with a D4 which costs about 6 grand more. Don't pay any attention to fools.

57, remember that it has nothing to do with the camera, nada, nothing, zip. And to prove it, in good faith, I'll trade you my instamatic for your 3200. Hey, just kidding. Just trying to cheer you up!!
It's all about the monkey that holds the camera. Hey, I'm not saying you're a Monkey, it's just what they say, whoever they is.
You'll be fine, promise. The guy that said that, is probably just a slow monkey( it wasn't me was it?).
Good luck and have fun with your 3200. ;-)
