I fully realize that one of the main reasons for this forum is to help answer others' questions. However, does anyone ever get the feeling that it's simply not worth the effort in some cases, and the end result that you KNOW is coming down the track particularly when it's a Canon vs Nikon question?

Happy Holidays to All!

Well Doc ..... I think we touched upon this topic before ..... but it's sort of like ya first beer, ya keep coming back for more .....

WTF? He answered the OP's question, short and to the point. You're asking people to respond in accordance to what you find convenient?

A D4? Do you really this this was posted to be a helpful answer? Of course not. Someone who doesn't even know what he wants is not going to be interested in a $6000 body. The answer wasn't supposed to be helpful it was supposed to, I guess, be clever. Well it wasn't.

1, we don't all get the annoying, inbox clogging emails that you speak of. I get zero, zip, nada !!
YOU, are the one that chose to get all that junk mail, only YOU can get rid of it.
It is Lynn's RIGHT to write one letter, one word, or ten pages. It is your right to choose to recieve them, but not to ask a Hog to censor their participation on the Hog, because you don't agree with it
Now stop being a BULLY, and let everyone have fun.
Cheer up ;-)

Out of my interest in wanting better equipment, I wondered about the N vs. C...I've got professional photographer friends in both camps. Don't think you'll go wrong in either way and I ended up with the Canon 60d with the 18-135 kits lens. It's a great set up to learn with and I've added the 100 macro, a 70-300, and a Sigma 8-16.
I'm having a great time playing and learning and using the information on this site to challenge myself. I usually shoot everything on manual just to force myself to learn and I haven't had a class yet...and maybe my photos show that. Don't really care, cause I'm learning.
As a result, I'm gonna step up to some 'L' glass soon just because I can and I want to.
Go with some of that "popular," if that makes sense, equipment and i don't think you'll go wrong. The rest is just practice, practice, and more practice.

I think his point was that we need a little more information to be helpful. Given the OP his answer was as good as any. How could you possibly know the OP's financial situation given his post. Maybe the guy is in a situation where money is no object. With his OP there's no way to know how to be helpful. We're all just guessing.

For what you want you'll soon come to realize 4-500$ isn't going to cover it, probably more like 4-5000$ Don't give up the dream, it just might happen.

Customers???? I really hate to tell you this you are putting the cart way in front of the horse here, you don't even have a camera yet and you are talking about customers? I suggest you get a camera, learn not only how to use it but also about composition and proper posing and then after 2 years or so START thinking about charging people and the business side of photography.

Sigh.....

Why because people (me) are telling you there is more to the photography business than buying a cheap dslr and opening a facebook page and saying you are a pro photographer?

Do you know about proper exposure?
The exposure triangle?
Posing?
Composition?
Do you know how to get a sharp image?
What about proper white balance?

What about insurance?
Business license?
Taxes?
COGs?

You don't even own a camera and you are talking a about clients, sorry this is NOT a get rich kind of business and people that think it's as easy as slapping it on auto and pushing a shutter button with no thought to the finished product or quailty are one of the reasons this industry is in trouble and gets no respect.
