RS, since nobody seems to be able to give you a straight answer, I'll take real shot at it.
Yes, Canons are better, so I hope your using one.
But if you happen to already own a Nikon, don't trade it in, many out there have survived with a Nikon for years, and experience just minimal effects because of it.
So, there you have it. Happy shooting, whatever your shooting. SS

Yea ok,,, you please her or him or whatever.

Since there really isn't any evidence to the contrary, why are you so skeptical?

The BEST camera is that one that "feels good in YOUR hands", has a menu system that YOU can negotiate easily, and has the features that YOU want or need.

For me, my FAVORITE digital camera was my Kodak z980 that I still have, but was somewhat limiting in a couple areas. I looked around at all the options online, then looked locally to see what the stores here were selling/supporting. Then I "narrowed" it down to Sony, Fuji, Panasonic, Nikon and Canon. Then I started nit-picking on the little things that bugged ME. I ended up choosing the Canon SX40 and then upgraded to the SX50 a year later, simply because they had features that were what "I PERSONALLY" considered a requirement for MY ENJOYMENT of this wonderful hobby!

There are a lot of others that have since chosen the same cameras, however there are others that just can't stand some of the features and layout and are NOT happy with them. EACH and EVERY individual will have their own ideas on what they want and what they like. YOU need to search (link at the top of the page) and enter the camera make or model that you want to find out about and see what people here say. Then go to "dpreview" or "snapsort" or "youtube" or just use Google to see what others think and say.

Bottom line is that YOU will have to satisfy YOURSELF!!

Good luck in your search, and most of all, ENJOY PHOTOGRAPHY!!

Both Nikon and Canon...or for that matter, any other brand of camera...is nothing more than a box that holds a lens in front of an image capturing device in the rear. It is the eye behind the viewfinder that distinguishes a photograph from a snapshot, art from kitsch. Ansel Adams with a $5.00 disposable Kodak could take a better photograph than most of us could with a $12,000 Leica, Nikon or Canon. The best camera is the one in your hands at the "decisive moment."

"Could is the past form of "can." It refers to an ability in sentences that are about the past...not the present.

" than most of us could with a $12,000 Leica"

So that's in the past too? I think that phrase implies our ability in a sentence about the future. Here is one definition:

could
/ko͝od/
Verb

Used to indicate possibility: "they could be right".

At any rate, he's still dead.
