The one you own and use is better for you. The outcome of your photography efforts has little to do with the camera you use, but 95% or more with your skills and dedication.

They are both great camera systems All your post will do is start yet another endless and pointless debate between Nikon and Canon fanboys and in the end you will have learned nothing more than you know already.

I'd follow this 47-page waste of time rather than replying to this new thread: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-105537-1.html

Well I have deliberated, and have come to the conclusion that the disposable Kodak is the most bestest. There are a lot less little buttons choose from. It even has it's own built in flash, and the battery seems to last very end. It's great to leave on the table for Weddings, in that you don't need a photographer with his high priced lens. Let the folks take there own. And the best feature, you don't need any high priced processing software. Just put it the mailer box and a few weeks later you have your pic's.

For a wedding it sounds good but what happens is the 4 to 7 year olds get ahold of the cameras and play photographer with heads cut off etc. Of course some would say they are better than the pro. As for the Nikon - Canon thing. You can not go wrong with either. I do believe that for some kinds of photography you need more advanced cameras and lenses to get the shots you invision. Both brands and as far as that go some other brands have cameras and lenses will do great. The way I decided is I went into the camera store and picked up both and the Nikon felt better in my hands so that is the way I went. - Dave

PLEASE DON'T LEAVE. This is not about you. Unfortunately you asked one of the most controversial questions anyone can ask on a photography forum. Those in both camps have strong feelings about the superiority of one system vs the other. While I will probably be punished for saying this, it has often seemed to me that Nikon fans tend to be more aggressive then Canon fans when it comes to pushing the superiority of their brand over Canon. Often the debates over which is better get nasty and plain silly. There are fanatics on both sides. You would think the argument was over religion or politics rather than cameras. As a result, we generally try to stay clear of such a 'dangerous' subject.

First, the 'guy' appears to be a woman by the name of Ruth Shroyer. She appears to be a newbie, perhaps just getting her feet wet. Maybe she is just interested in buying a camera and is trying to learn something about the two main brands (sorry, SONY and Pentax). You're assuming she is a troll just trying to cause problems. I'm assuming she was just asking a legitimate question not knowing what a hot button issue it is and was blindsided by the response. If she was on a forum asking for a comparison of two brands of microwaves, its unlikely she would feel as unwelcome as we've made her feel.

I've been a Nikon guy and pro since the '70's (also Sinar, Mamiya, Pentax 645 & 6x7, Hasselblad, Leica).
I couldn't care less what camera anyone uses.
Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony, Pentax, Olympus....Hey, whatever floats your boat and you're comfortable with.

I agree. However, some folks here are a lot less tolerant than you.
