Wow. I have heard that Texas is big. It is even bigger than I thought. Thx for the info.

Cut Alaska in half and Texas could be the THIRD largest state.

I have not picked up a club since my wife (of 43 blessed years) and golfing partner passed away in May 2010. I moved to Oklahoma in June 2012 from Indiana to be near my son ands his family. Golfed in Dallas, Plano and Texarkana. Was a 10 handicapper before I gave up the game.

Tibuljac-- I can understand your pain in loosing your wife and I am so very sorry. I truly hope that you will take up golf again. My son lost his wife last year. He is a gifted musician and has given it up I suppose under the same feelings you have. Both played in the local Symphony for a number of years. I feel that giving something up would not be what the Wife would want him to do however, it is not for me to say and I am not sure How I would handle my Wife's passing. God bless.

My condolences, tlbuljac. There were a number of couples who played together on the course where I played. It's really great when two people share a passion for the game. It's odd, too. I pretty much stopped playing after my Dad passed away. I'd been an avid golfer until then, and even took my clubs with me to Michigan, thinking I'd hit a few at the range, but didn't, and when I got back to Texas I just didn't feel like playing.

That pretty much explains my feelings as well. Just don't have the same passion in playing as I once did. I had two sets of clubs, one was a set of Ping irons and woods that I gave to one of my grandsons in Indy prior to my move to OK, the other set was a custom made set I had made for me a few years ago. I brought them to OK when I moved, but they are stored in my son's shed in his back yard. Maybe one of his three sons will get interested in the game someday. but for me, I am finished with the game and have sense resorted to bowling twice a week.

Bruce.....Some Texans were just born here and had no voice in the matter....then there are Texans like me who are Texans By Choice!!

Now Steve...always heard it like this...There are two ways to be a Texan. One...thru a state of mind...your beliefs & morals...or the second(of which I am and inclusive of all #1)....and that being an original of which I am...which happens to be the preferred way...and that is....being a Texan by injection. Born on the banks of the North Brazos I was. A long time before some crackpot named Koresh took up root on the outskirts.

You know,I have had several friends who played all the time before they just up and quit.I always wondered why,as I was addicted myself. Then one day,as I'm getting older, for some reason I missed a teetime and I haven't felt like going back since.Weird; don't know how to really explain it.

Yankee forever. All in jest. Took a $400 loss on my new snowblower an never
looked back.

I like the post. Since I was moved to TX ('64) from the E Coast, I learned, at least 2 anyway, things about TX.

1. "If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes, it will change."

2. "Anything within 850 miles is considered in the neighborhood."

Sweet Willie-- It snowed here in the Rio Grande Valley a few years ago and people went "nuts". First time in many years. So, you might consider taking the snowblower back. You never know here in Texas what the weather might do.
