It's like a "turnip". In some countries they call a rutabaga a "swede". I'm really joking about not eating them. I love turnips if they are cooked right. Happy New Year.

Cheers I've heard of swedes and turnips, though I don't like them.

Life without Rutabagas would be dreadful.

Thanks Jo. I am doing pretty good. I started slowing down at the end of summer, so that helped a lot. Now I am doing it for little Harrison.:) I want to be around and play with him as long as I can.:) I will yell if I need help.:)
Erv

Erv, I quit the last time on Nov. 17, 1998, 9pm, but whose counting the hours? :-D I will always encourage you. I quit so I could tell my sons I didn't want them to smoke. I couldn't admonish them if I was doing it. When tempted I would think of how many days of not smoking I would be throwing away with just one puff. I always kept a few Werthers Original hard candy in my pocket where my cigs used to be so when I reached for one I would have something to put in my mouth. Again you have my encouragement and support. It does get easier!!

I've always wondered why God created them. Maybe to punish people like me.

Letter in The Daily Telegraph today: "I resolve to put on a stone (translation for Americans - 14 lbs) in weight this year. If I succeed I feel the warm glow of success; if I fail, that is good too." Maybe I'll do that this year.

I'm also going to try to do ARK daily, the suggestion of someone else on this forum. It means doing an Act of Random Kindness.

News Years Resolutions
Try to decline working so much overtime, this will be hard as I am a work alcoholic. I have in the past gone into work on the week-end for free (get things squared away).
Visit my sister more than twice a year ( she lives less then 20 miles away)

Erv, I smoked for about 40 years before I had a 'mild' heart attack, which I considered a serious complaint from the control room. I quit, cold turkey 18 years ago. I have had a quadruple bypass and am a bit short-winded, but I'm still here and still active at age 80. My advice? . . .believe in yourself and don't get down-hearted.

Amen, especially on the "don't get down-hearted".

Helpful tip: When consuming rutabagas, be sure your blood alcohol is up over 0.1 percent. They will still taste vile, but you won't care.

Happy New Year!
