I love rutabagas! Raw, cooked with butter and little white pepper - anyway at all. Even my dog enjoys a slice of raw rutabaga when I'm munching on one,

As for resolutions, well, lets start with no more impulse buying of 'must have' camera goodies! Just bought myself a lovely lens - Nikkor 17-55 2.8 G ED - and I need to keep my hands off my wallet in the future!

Wishing everyone here peace and fulfillment in the year ahead.

Don't you mean Wild Turley? :D
My neighbor had an open house party a few nights ago, and there were probably thirty people there. After a while, he was surprised to see that he was the only one there who smoked.

I have to agree with the camera habit. I just ordered the SX50 HS when I have had the SX40HS for a year. Didn't really need it. I already have too many cameras. I found a good deal I couldn't pass up on the "50". Now I have to put the credit card away for a while. Slap my hand if I come across another good deal!

Hang in there, Erv!

I smoked for 17 years, having started at age 14 (Stupid, I know!!). My wife (also named Jan) had taught our daughter, then a toddler, to cough whenever I took out a cigarette, although she denied doing it...

I quit cold turkey one day because it was raining too hard to walk a block to get another pack. People I worked with had menthols, but I hated those. By the time the rain slacked off enough to go out, I had gone about six hours smoke-free, the longest I ever had. I realized that I had quit without really trying to. It has now been about 35 years without a cigarette - I never dared to have even one, because I don't have much willpower, and I'm afraid I might go back.

I may not be the healthiest 65 year old guy around (diabetes, two coronary stents in the last year, prostate cancer three years ago) but I'm alive.

Again, hang in there. You're over the hump now!

Good for you! Once your lungs go, you have nothing.

Thanks Jo. I am doing pretty good. I started slowing down at the end of summer, so that helped a lot. Now I am doing it for little Harrison.:) I want to be around and play with him as long as I can.:) I will yell if I need help.:)
Erv

Erv every time you want to lite up think of that little guy. A poem I use to to my dad and my father inlaw.( A cigeret is a filthy weed and from the devil doth proceed, It stains your fingers and your clothes and makes a chimney of your nose.)My dad quit when he was in an oxagin tent in the late 50s from a heart attack. He did live another 20 years. My father inlaw died of lung cancer. He quit when they went to 50cents a pack. Too late.

My goal is to quit smoking. I have felt like such a failure. I've tried so many times. But then I thought about it and I have made progress. The only place I smoke now is in my bedroom. So I've decided to stay out of my bedroom as much as possible. I've even moved work materials, study materials, and books to other rooms. I think this time I may really be able to finally quit. Wish me success.

To all smokers, my gift to you is knowledge. One word- WELLBUTRIN. One pill a day while you keep on smoking as desired. Do this for about a month then you'll find it amazingly easy to start cutting back. It finally got to the point where i was able to get my consumption down to 3-4 cigs per day (that absolutely blew my mind!!). At this point on went on the patch and never had another smoke! Jan 5th, 2005. Btw, mine was a 3 to 4 pack / day addition and i had tried absolutely everything with no effect. I look back and, to this day, consider my freedom a miracle!!!
