I agree, why post a photo if you don't want comments?
Label it a snapshot and move on.

This section is for posting pictures you took. If you want to ask others to comment on your choice of subjects, composition, settings, show off your pictures to others, or ask for general critique, then please do so in the Photo Gallery section.

But if you need help with a specific issue, then please post in the Photo Analysis section.

Maybe there is a difference between pictures and photos

Please refer that to one of the forum cops.
My sarcasm was aimed at them. My personal, non-sarcastic opinion is there are so many forums, one could post the same picture in most of them. UsrID's photo of which we speak could go in a bunch (16?) of them, shudder.

That's why I primarily view the Gallery, and sometimes peruse Newest Pictures to see what I may have missed in categories I don't subscribe.

Fantastic work. (Not too sure why people would bother posting their photo's on a public forum if they're not interested in others opinions?)

I'd like to blow a special raspberry to all those that don't wish to improve, regardless of endeavor.

I wonder what the attitude would be toward anyone who took that stance regarding spelling and grammar. If all the grammar, spelling, and syntax mistakes were pointed out, how long would it take for the "grammar nazi" recriminations to start?

I just roll my eyes at all the police departments here.

Would the "majority" be "we"?

No one here speaks for "we" You speak for yourself unless you took a survey of all participants. On a forum when one claims "we" it generally means they actually think they speak for everyone, which is seldom/never the case on a public forum unless you define "we" up front. In this case, I don't think Rick, or anyone for that matter should leave.

There was a time here it seemed a few of them were trying to make it happen. They didn't last.

Ha Ha! (Good post!)

Thanks.
Sarcasm is oft missed on a written forum.

So if I said "We like UHH." I would be wrong?

He speaks for almost everybody. Just look at the number of posts he responds to.

He does no harm that I have noticed, not much good either.

I always hope that he will eventually post pictures, but not sure if he ever owned a camera.

Jo, I would like to recommend that you go to Youtube and enter Red Steagall The Bay It is about how we all can see things through different eyes and how we can be wrong.

Thanks, I love that. I have always loved Cowboy Poetry. At one time we had 77 horses and every one of them had a personality just like some person we knew. Many were solid black and people never could understand how we could tell them apart, but it's so easy.
When I got old and then lost my husband, I could no longer take care of the horses, the farm and all the other animals, so I sold out left Tn. and downsized in Al. at 83 years old. Now 86, I hate not having a horse but I can ride at a friend's barn when I want to.
I do think it's a good thing if one can find something nice to say. My motto will always be my dad's favorite saying "Be kind or be quiet".

So what of they are only interested in learning "more" as a 2 on a scale of 1-10?
Do they HAVE to be at 10?
Below what number do they receive a less than stellar opinion?

I've been shooting for over 50 years, no longer at a 10 for desire to "learn", I have a much lower number now.
Not that I'm not interested, just not in the top 5 list anymore.

Wrong scale. I'm using a 1/0 scale.

If on you're scale of a 2 out of 10, 2 is a one (true), not a zero(False), so NOT less than stellar.
I never said your interest level must be 10. My learning level in photography peaked at around 3, and I've been shooting for only 47 years. If I post a picture and some photo wiz says the pic would be "better if you did this", I ALWAYS listen, and would never get all bunched up because someone took enough interest to try to help. I've been helped quite a bit from unsolicited opinions.

Ahhhh, maybe to show people???????

Because one doesn't want comments it makes it a snapshot???

Since by definition a forum is a place for public discussion, one would seem errant if posting a personal masterpiece (or snapshot) on a public forum.

If you don't care what others think, only what you think, then post it on your private computer and you can ignore it all you want.

Well, that's what "WE" think. Administration has the right to what "THEY" think. "WE" don't make the rules...

IF this were a grammar forum and not a photography forum that would be expected.

I rather be nice even if I will never see that person again. Even here on the UHH. It's not worth to make someone upset by telling them their pictures suck. Besides, I think the pictures are bad but really how do I know. The beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. It's quite obvious that the pictures are good to the people who posted.

There is a decided difference between being nice on UHH and being nice on a battlefield or in an operating room... This is a social media site. Nice is a currency of credibility here.

Reality elsewhere occasionally presents us with some more difficult choices. I had to make a few in business. In retrospect, I was right often enough, and nice often enough, when it counted either way. The trick was to know when to be right at someone else's expense, for the greater good of the business. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, to paraphrase Spock from Star Trek.

Dunno.
Which of your personalities are "we" talking about?
