I have the 1Tb version. It gets really hot when used for even a short time
Check with Wal-Mart, they have 2tb, 4tb external hard drives that you can use in either Windows or Apple OS cheaper than another company around plus you can pick it up at the store and return it to the store if you don't like it or it is defective.

The scandisc 2tb ssd portable hard drive is a great drive. I have two of them and 5 of the 1tb version. If I was only getting 1 I would get the 2tb version. If you plan on getting multiple drives then the 1tb is a good choice. If you have a costco membership they sometimes have both drives at a lower price than B&H so you might check before ordering them.
There has been a heating problem with some of the SanDisks. I don't remember which models but check online to see some reviews.

I have read that but have not experienced that with any of mine.
Check Amazon too. Just bought the 2 TB SSD for $120.

If you’re committed to SanDisk, I believe there are 4 models from fastest and most expensive to slowest and least expensive. All are Amazon prices:
SanDisk Professional 2TB. 3,000 MB/sec max. Thunderbolt interface. $248
SanDisk Professional 2TB. 2,000 MB/sec max. USB-C 3.2 interface. $219
SanDisk Extreme 2TB. 1050 MB/sec max. USB-C 3.2 interface. $155
SanDisk Portable 2TB, 520MB/sec max. USB-C 3.2 interface. $119

B&H gear providers offer discounts to them. There is never any rhyme or reason for it. NO, there is nothing wrong with the 2tb. The only question is, what are you waiting for?
I've gotten to the point where I don't even consider 1TB drives. For internal, I use 4TB or larger, and I'm leaning that way for externals, too.

Bill,
Just f.y.i., as a past retail photo business owner, trust me, there is a rhyme and reason to every sale. Be it inventory close out, cash flow, knowing a newer model of a product is coming out or generating store traffic to expose customers to other products, there is a reason behind every “sale”.
But agree, take advantage of the sale and usually no need to question it.
You might also try buying an M.2 SSD and an external enclosure. I have a Samsung 2TB SSD installed in a Sabrent enclosure.

More likely, SanDisk has a newer model coming, and they want to clear out the old stock.
That 2TB is a good model. My son has had one for a while.
The Samsung T7 is also great.
Watch on SanDisk SSD's late last year there was a problem with some of them and a lawsuit was also filed.
