In the early days of PCs we had an office full of TI desktops with full height 3&5MB hard drives. After a few months operation the hard drives would start to squeal and/or not start when the power was turned on. The tech remedy was to turn the units upside down to allow the oil to run back into the drive bearing; worked every time! A lot has changed since those early days...

Yes indeed - HDs have been using air bearing now for awhile.
I’ve seen some BIG mistakes in IT departments. An accidental Halon drop, a contractor who hit the EPO and took down a major National bank and hundreds of ATMs for a day, a contractor that destroyed 384TB of data with a keystroke, and best of all, a bucket on top of a rack to catch AC condensation that fell over and cost 150K$.

Surely you jest!! She was not that sharp!
No, I'm serious.
Think about it, a round disk in a square package. the disk doesn't go to the corners.
Small area, but it exists...
Get Win11. Under the changed desktop, everything works the same. Just more advertising.

Perhaps, but I read past it.......
Well, the popular consensus is that Windows 11 is the way to go and after reading all the input here I now agree and wish to thank those that contributed here. I guess I could wait for Windows 12, but I've never been one that jumps onto the newest software and/or technology and since Windows 11 will be supported for a good while I think it will do just fine. On another note, my old Windows 7 machine will not be abandoned any time soon as there is software on it that I use frequently and until I move to newer software on the new machine, which could take a while, it will still be useful. I also currently use a Chromebook for all my internet activities and have had far fewer problems with it than I did using Windows anything! However, this new laptop will access the internet and that is particularly why I feel I'm ready for an upgrade. Good luck and Happy Holidays to all.

When I replace a computer it's because it NEEDS to be replaced, not waiting for a new version of anything.

On that note I must say that many of us old guys have a lot of stuff that doesn't work anymore like it used to!!
I have trouble finding things.
I hate the fact that when going through your photos in Windows 11, there is no Thumbnail view.
[quote=Bison n Windows 10 verses Windows 11? Any insightful information and/or feedback on this subject would be greatly appreciated![/quote]
I "blundered" into Win 11 and strongly dislike it. Some so-called labor savings devices cause more trouble doing simple functions like copy and paste. I vote against Win 11 until an upgrade is forced upon a buyer.
