Remember this device is made to water "crops".
Couldn't pass it up. Too easy.
I think it depends on what you are trying to convey. The cropped version makes the boom of the irrigation device much more prominent and dramatic. Uncropped version gives a broader and more landscaped view which, incorporating the road, give us an added dimension to the image. Overall, I prefer the dramatic of the cropped version.
Uncrossed version, more interesting "story."
I like the cropped version

Cropped - focuses on the subject.

I like the cropped version. If the uncropped one had the space in front of the machine (on the left), I would like that one.
I agree with the number 2 as it has more depth and it gives the eye a place to travel and not just stare at the sprinkler.

Cropped. I find the uncropped road distracting. The lines tend to take my eye too close to the edge of the photo. In the uncropped photo my eye travels between the equipment and the road too much while the cropped photo my eye just concentrates on the equipment after examining the photo as a whole. If you had included the whole road and maybe a little of the next field, shrinking the equipment a little by dropping back a little, then including the road might make more sense. Of course, with Murphy's Law, there was probably wasn't another field across the road and you did the best you could. I think concentrating on the equipment is the better call.
