An irrigation beast!! Love these creatures

IMO the pov from which you shot is most important and very effective. The road draws my attention away from the beast in order to see what's at the end, so for that reason I'd crop it out.

You need to go back and reshoot using the negative space on the left to achieve a much better initial result.

Crop is too tight. The object has no room to 'breathe'.
Un-cropped is blah.

This is not a post-processing issue.

Thanks for commenting Rongnongno. You don't consider cropping a PP issue? Where should it go then?

For your "consideration section".

Now, if you do a demonstration on how to crop and the reasons for it…

I prefer the uncropped. There are leading lines on the uncropped version which make the photograph more visually interesting.

Cropped. It focuses on a unique subject. Uncropped adds an element that is a distraction. Beautifully done B&W, Jack.

Two versions of a large center pivot irrigation system in rural Nebraska. Your thoughts on which you prefer? Or maybe neither?

I prefer the cropped version. It is much more dramatic.
