I would guess that you are being a bit cryptic about your choice of tools. The one camera I've seen that would do this was a very expensive view camera that one of my former employer's clients used for photographing HUGE panoramas of marching bands. It moved the film back from side to side within the projected image circle. It was a *very* large and heavy beast.
