Wow, I long for the days of $4.00 per gallon! Just filled up the other day at $6.49 per gallon for regular. Tank of gas cost me $117.90.

Ass a retired Aerospace engineer, one of the unofficial titles I held was, "Senior Resident Scrounger".
Let me introduce All Y'all mechanically minded folk to the Adult Toy Store,
McMaster-Carr.
They are a family owned company in the business of supplying individuals to large corporations with damn near anything you can think of, at a moments notice.
They have about 7 major warehouses across the country so you are rarely more the a couple of day away from having you item.
Yes, they do charge for shipping so load up an order.
Just go to their site and start looking for anything. You will be amazed at what they have.

Agreed, they are higher, not as bad as Grainger, but 99% of the time they do have whatever it is you are looking for in stock.

But do they have wire gauge drill bits ?
Ace hdw. says they have them @ over $2 ea, plus the 52 mile r/t.
I was just going to suggest Ace hardware. 52 mile round trip isn't that bad. Just make the trip worth it and buy a few other things while you are there.

Manglesphoto, I feel your pain as well as being quite confused.
Two current examples have me scratching my bald head. I needed an EU to USA plug adapter for a charger for the microscope camera. I found one for $2.75 that included shipping. Next, I need a pair of disk brake springs for my Ford F350 Super Duty truck. They look like a pair of stretched-out paperclips that could easily fit in a standard envelope. They were less than $10 for a pair...however....standard shipping was over $25. I'm so confused!!!

How much did Amazon want for them?
Amazon free shipping to your door with prime but you do have to buy the prime. UNLESS YOU ATTACH ONTO ONE OF YOUR CHILDRENS account like we have. But sometimes it cheaper to go to the hardware store.

Thank you,
But I really don't mind buying more than I actually need or even the final shipping cost or the three day wait,
my post was about the different shipping cost between sellers, almost twice the as high.

Actually, even Ace hardware has a section where a lot of Sears tools are stocked.
