beautifully done. I am sure you will find many others do the same, but, may not admit it. This image is very well composed and shot. How did you manage to get it so well done? Did you use a cloning software?

Lovely image. Did you use the self-timer or a clicker? I also think the cattail is distracting.

Be well! Ed

Clicker? What, is it the 1960's? I'm willing to bet the cat tail was not actually planned. For everyone who praised the photo, you really need to look at it again. First posting or otherwise, it's really not all that good. It's ok, but in my opinion, a good example of both over exposed and under exposed at the same time.

I am going to jump in to disagree with rmorrison, or at least give my thoughts. Is it technically a great image, composed and created by a master craftsman meant for sale or museum use? No, but not a lot of images here fall under that category. Is the image creative, or at least as or more creative than the average photo posted here, I say yes. There is a feel, vibe, emotion that was attempted and i think captured by the design and execution of the image. The model/photographer obviously thought this image out, it isn't just a selfie in a mirror (I like the concept, I like the lighting/window, I like the metal bed, I like the see through outfit and the idea of the pose). Being the model and photographer, you open yourself up to double risk of criticism and this being her first time posting her, I think that takes some courage that should be encouraged. Is there room for improvement, sure, I would bet even the OP would agree with that, that is why most of us are posting here and once she has posted several shots and gotten comfortable with the forum/group I think constructive critique is very helpful and probably desired. Being the limited number of photographers that post here even semi-regularly, I am encouraged for anyone to post. Having a female poster is a plus, having a female poster who is also the model is a huge plus in my book, so I don't want anything to interfere with more posts. Doesn't mean I will not be honest on my critique. In this case it is clear (or assumed by me) looking at the photo of a first time poster this isn't a master craftperson photographer but someone likely experimenting and desiring to improve (which is basically what I am). So for me it was a good image cause it created an emotional impact on me (which is the most important thing for me in a photo), was as good as many posted here and I truly want to see other work by this photographer. My expectations for each image I comment on isn't the same in my head and this new poster exceeded my expectations for an initial post and I hope posts more and I hope improves like all of us hope to and most of us do. Now maybe I am wrong and this photographer is a successful professional photographer with many sales in this type of art. If that is true, I will re-calibrate my expectations and critiques accordingly. Bottom line, this forum is better off with this post and poster than without, so that is an overall positive for me.

Pretty bold for being your first post here on UHH. Would like to see more of your work. You need a photographer. It's hard to setup for a shot and then scamper into it before the shutter releases automatically.

I am a photographer :-) I use an app on my phone as a remote shutter so there isn’t too much scamperin’.

Many of you folks are too quick to criticize. I thought it was a nice photo...reasonably well done...cat-tails or not. I would encourage our lady to continue with more photos, perhaps improving along the way. You folks can nit-pic all you want. I still say it's a good image...not perfect...but a good start.

Maybe you should walk a few in her shoes. I would like to see how good you are at posing yourself. You are way to quick to negatively criticize!
When I taught photography, I absolutely never crit a photographer's work the way you have. I always commented that "maybe you could have enhanced the image, or, try it a little this way or that way, etc.' but never did I cut down a persons work.

Very nicely done. I can't help but think this would be spectacular in black and white.
