Yesterday I attended YM Camera's "First Look Launch Event" for the new Z9. Wow! What a fantastic piece of equipment! It's almost twice the size of my Z6 but is very comfortable to hold which makes it seem much lighter than it is. The built-in battery grip was very interesting since I'd never experienced one before. It's waaay more camera than I actually need or want as well as being so very expensive but I loved my short exposure to it!

How long do you estimate it will take to talk yourself into wanting one?

You live near YM Camera! I live in CO but found them on line when I was looking for a Canon lens and had such a great experience with Robby that I will buy all my gear from him! However, I have spent so much switching to mirrorless it could be a while….😕

Hahaaa!! My husband keeps telling me I can get it if I want it but I really don't. It's geared to professionals which I'm not, plus it's really not suited for the type of shooting I do. BUT ... it is definitely a thing of beauty!!

We're a little over an hour drive away and I've been buying from them for the past 4 years or so. Both Robby and his dad are extremely helpful and I am so grateful to have them as a resource rather than to have to rely on buying my equipment on line with no in person help and backup.

I can not remember what year it was when I first put my hands on a Nikon, but it was in my college days at TCU in one of Dr. Bob Carroll's photojournalism classes in 1962 or 1963. I knew Nikon was on to something special then and since those days I have been sold on Nikon products. My wife and I attended the Z9 rollout event in Dallas done by Competitive Camera and then five nights later the Z9 event done by Fort Worth Camera. What an exciting time!
We have been publishing a magazine since 1975 . . . our November issue was 192 pages and we averaged 200 pages a month in 2021 . . . and Nikon is one of reasons for the continued success of this publication. Hopefully in the next few days we will have our Z9s in our hands shooting photos for the January issue as we enter our 48th year with our publication. Long live Nikon. And long live Quarter Horse Track Magazine.

You're the type of photographer the Z9 is geared toward rather than amateurs like me. Hope it fulfills all the hype and that you get many wonderful shots out of it - congratulations!
