Hahaaa!! My husband keeps telling me I can get it if I want it but I really don't. It's geared to professionals which I'm not, plus it's really not suited for the type of shooting I do. BUT ... it is definitely a thing of beauty!!
I'm not a pro either but want one since BIF is one of my genres. You can't beat that AF/fps performance and group/eye AF focusing options. I think this will be Nikon's first flagship camera that will attract many enthusiasts who can afford it (or maybe take a 2nd mortgage on the house).
When we saw the tests shot by Nikon Pro Andy Hancock we were convinced. And we had already placed our camera order. The AF/FPS and group/Eye focusing options knocked me over. Can hardly wait to shoot a 440-yard quarter horse race with the horses hitting 50 mph headed straight at me in focus all the was in a 21-second run.
And two hours of video with excellent sound. Wow.

I'm in a very, very small minority that would love to see Nikon offer a stills-only camera. I never use the video option on mine as we have a dedicated digital video camera.

I do a lot of travel photography as well as street and the Z9 would be too large to cart around hanging by my side.
Maybe too heavy, but not too large.

The Nikon Df is still only camera.

For me too the Z9 would not be absolutely perfect - I would prefer instead a D500 on Z9 steroids...vertical grip optional, 24-30mp, e-shutter only. Don't know if Nikon will make a crop version like that but I've heard a Z8 maybe, or Z55?

I admit to being one of the first on the line for the Z9. If I find it to be, in actual use, even near as good as Nikon says it will be, I may have several bodies and lenses for sale. The one lens that really excites me is the 400/2.8 with the built-in 1.4 TC. I expect that to be an expensive killer lens! We shall see. Best of luck to all.
After personally holding the Z9 and looking at all the features two different times and talking to a couple of people who have been using the camera, I think the naysayers might like the Z9 once they handle one. Just my opinion and I admit that my opinion was certainly influenced by Andrew Hancock who is my opinion is one of the best photographers to ever pick up a Nikon.
cjc2 I think you are on target with the 400/2.8 And I hear it will be affordable for what it will do. Don't think I will be selling and bodies or lenses. They still work and it seems we will use them for remotes, etc., for many years.

I will be a VERY happy camper if that new 400 is not way overpriced, as I believe the 200-400/4 with TC is! Best of luck.

Wow Sue - I lay awake nights thinking about exactly the same thing. I have never had the need for video, or the extra button and myriad menu items.
Ain't gonna happen in my shooting lifetime.

You live near YM Camera! I live in CO but found them on line when I was looking for a Canon lens and had such a great experience with Robby that I will buy all my gear from him! However, I have spent so much switching to mirrorless it could be a while….😕
That R5 seems to be doing a fine job for you!

Remember you can get a camera without video but you would have to pay more not less.

Mirrorless cameras are video cameras it just depends on what you do with the frames. But yes, I like them only for stills but may get into vlogging down the road, so the video capability works fine. On my D7200 I assigned the movie record button for ISO setting since I never shot video on a DSLR.
