Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Means you can't use my tax dollars to promote your make-believe bs religion. That's why I'm proud to be an American.[/quote]

Once again the American sheeple get bamboozeled by the government. If Congress is so hell bent on separation of church and state, why do they open all sessions of congress with prayer? Same with the supreme court. Or how about "In God We Trust" on our currency. Congress sure holds themselves to a different standard. What happened to "For the people by the people?"
I'm sure the prayers alienate some religious groups that feel left out of the mix due to the Judaeo\Christian roots of the prayers.

I'm an atheist yet I believe an American has the right to prayer. The government has gotten into the self esteem business, whether it be mainstreaming kids with learning disabilities so their self esteem is maintained; affirmative action; illegal immigration; or denying prayer for fear some group will feel left out.

First, self esteem is not something I want my government dictating the rules for. Second failure is not how one defines their self. The government wants to eliminate failure as an option. Problem is it has traded mediocrity for it. Even the greatest in history have failed and learned from their mistakes.

How do you know that your tax dollars were used to print some tiny little crosses on some college kid's T-shirts? Maybe they printed them up on their own. Even if they didn't, do you really feel that the money spent is going to send you to the poor house?

Good grief. Get a life

Let me make this clear - those kids have an absolute right to wear those crosses - I went off and fought to make sure that that right would never go away. And they can wear Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist symbols as well - it is their right and it is why I love America.

But that State University, supported as it is by tax dollars from each citizen, was going to use a picture of those kids for their advertisements. They did not want to offend the Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist or Sikh taxpayers that were forced to support the school by appearing to condone one religion over another. And they technically couldn't do it anyhow, as it is prohibited by our great constitution.

You should be proud to be an American - our laws allow you to come to a public forum such as this and condemn others for their beliefs while making a fool of yourself.

The funny thing is, you think I make a fool of myself while you believe in an invisible man in the sky. I have a feeling the fool is you.

You are correct and they should have done what was stated in the article - use a different image instead of post processing/censoring one for their advertisements.

Wrong again gnslngr - Nothing in my reply reflects my religious beliefs. You have no idea who or what I believe in and what makes you think as you stated, the invisible man in the sky, is a man?

So, you were successful in making another fool of yourself. Thanks for making my point.

Only a fool would have posted as you did. Thanks for proving my point. Keep it up.

What religious freedoms that you believe essential to the practice of your religious beliefs and necessary to your salvation have been lost?

We have Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Speech.
Let's stop this "politically correctness" and take our country back, this election day !

Amen!!!

This is the kind of assinine political correctness that led to banning nativity scenes in front of the court houses where people go inside and place their hands on the Bible to swear and tell the truth.

If you don't believe or feel offended, get over it. That's really what the US Constitution is about. If you don't like the program, change the channel or turn the TV off.

For crying out loud, it's some college kids wearing small crosses on their T-Shirts. Maybe some would think it would be better if they were skipping the game, hanging out at their dorm room and getting high or making a bomb.

Good God, we're indoctrinated to put up with everybody else's religious and cultural beliefs all over the world, but in this country we can't have any of our own?

Non-believers do not have to place their hands on the bible or swear to god. An oath to be truthful is sufficient.

Where in the bible (or whatever book you base your religious beliefs upon) do you find a requirement to put little nativity scenes on public (read that as taxpayer supported) property. Has any such scene been banned from a church?

If you don't like the fact that making taxpaying unbelievers pay for religious displays is something supported by the courts... get over it.

Cover your house (assuming you don't have an HOA that forbids it) with lights and little baby Jesus's to your hearts content. The public lands belong to the public and not solely a bunch of christians.

You are correct and that is why we have the Supreme Court to settle issues over what is and is not Constitutional. This matter has already been decided.

What freedoms have you lost? What makes you think holiday traditions (which is what we are talking about) are constitutionally protected freedoms?

C'mon, do you really think a few college kids wearing a small cross on their T-shirts during a football game is equivalent to ramming their religious beliefs down your throat?
