This is definitely a well-done photograph.

Well it took me all week, several hundred exposures, and the help of a couple of enthusiasts who were kind enough to offer advice and encouragement but I finally got to the point that I was able to adjust my flash setup to stop the wings. Unfortunately I use two cards in my camera, one to record raw and one to record low resolution JPEGs and of course I only had the low res card in the camera when I took this shot.

Enjoyed your shot. We've all been there, so you're not alone. I've used Topaz JPEG to RAW AI a couple times and it's worked pretty well. Was able to get the image into Photoshop and work with it a bit better than if it had remained a jpg. Bev

I shoot RAW + Small JPEG on the second card.... Once they start shooting RAW most people don't go back to JPEG, I only shoot JPEG on the second card so that if I want to quickly upload to the web I don't have to go through processing RAW files.

You are right about shooting RAW, that's all I really use for myself. But I work with a non profit where I'm sent small jpg's to use in marketing posters, that's when the Topaz software really helps. Will enjoy seeing more of your images. Bev

So, does doing the conversion actually work better than the Camera Raw Filter now included in Photoshop? You get all the editing controls for your JPEGs that are in Adobe Camera RAW.

Awesome shot!

Now that you know how to do it - try again and get that RAW version, but either way this one is a winner :)

I love the R5, the 5DIV is a great camera but the AE-1 was also.... That is more of a joke than anything else, I love the electronic view finder, the advances in focus and tracking the step forward is not as great as going from film to digital, but all the same it is a huge step.

I actually never used my 5DIV much, when I purchased the 5DIV I at the time had a 6D and a 7DII, I never loved the 7DII because I thought that it produced way too much noise when you pushed the ISO and my interest at the time was BIF, but the 6D did not have the resolution I wanted for birding, so I purchased the 5DIV thinking it would replace both cameras. Although the 5DIV certainly performed better with the noise issue I did miss the resolution of the 7DII, so I ended up purchasing a 5DSR which became my goto camera. I also had a Fuji XT-2 that I used for vintage lenses. So, the 5DIV saw little use. I had traded a lens to MTshooter for a Canon R which is the mirrorless equivalent to the 5DIV and when I moved to the Carolina mountains and took an interest in landscape the R became my goto camera and the IV still sat on the shelf, but for me the R was a love/hate relationship, I loved all that mirrorless brings but did not like the new controls on the R and I hated the touch screen, my settings were always changed because I must have touched the touch screen inadvertently, so when I had squirreled enough money away to get the R5 I did and it replaced all three of my Canon bodies, the R, SR, and the IV and I don't miss any of them, the R5 is amazing. There may be a high resolution R7 coming out and that should be interesting.

Another plus of having this camera is, last week I purchased an old Canon classic, the FL 55mm f/1.2 mounted it and when outside and had some fun, can't do that with any of the Canon DSLR's, not without a special and expensive adapter or one with optical correction, I never liked either option but with a mirrorless the adapters cost between $15 and $20, money well spent to give new life to a classic.
